E200 YY15 NJX (Arriva Midlands 2002)

Just got a new MOT on 95,000 miles after masses of fails. It looks tidy enough.

Barton Park, 19th March 2018, Noted in Uni-Link's Compound.

142,000 miles at the last MOT and a personal plate which I'm guessing relates to Newquay. A rare car. I kind of like the look of these, but they're a bit big for my tastes and I'm sure there's plenty that can (and does) go wrong.

There's roughly 200 on Howmanyleft.

Tribulations I

2002 China, Chongqing

Tribulations 1 has been shot in China in winter 2002.

This tribulation began at the "dam of the Three Gorges" on the Yangtze river, a year before the valley was flooded.

From Yichang to Chongqing, going up the stream, the ferry had many stops.

At that time, every cities along the river were destroyed by hand in a huge mass relocation of towns and villages.

Over 1.13 million people where displaced by the rising waters.

The dam was completed in the summer of 2006, and the water level in the Qutang, Wuxia, and the western portion of the Xiling Gorges has already begun to rise.

In addition to the impacts of the dam on the ecology and people of the region, the dam will also change the scenery of the Three Gorges.

The Lancia Thesis was built from 2002 until 2009. The car wasn't very succesfull and only about 16,000 Thesis have been have been built. This one has a 2.5 litre 5-cylinder engine.

2002 Scania T124L.420 registered M99FES, a genuine Scania built example which was previously operated by Forth Tyres Ltd, who ran a fleet of these bullnose Scania models from three depots around central Scotland. This one, an eight wheel rigid/crane outfit, has ended up with a recovery operator in Glasgow although it is obviously no longer in use. Seen here in April 2025.

A flashback to summer 2002 for today's upload. Tim decked our garden a couple of summers after my Dad died, as Sam, our collie cross, kept running across our muddy lawn and marking all our carpets!!

Lots of changes since this was taken, and the decking isn't so fresh and clean looking now! The wooden shed rotted at the back, so now we have a plastic version, and the back wall almost fell down, so a neighbour replaced it (after realising it was his eucalyptus tree that was cause our wall to bow badly!) The boys have grown a bit too!!

Normally I only photograph older or classical cars. For this futuristic Renault I like to make an exception.

The Avantime was first presented in Febr. 1999 to the press as a prototype. Only in 2001 started production and sales.

The design was its time far much ahead. The Avantime combines elements of a MPV, estate, 2+2 coupé and convertible. The car was developed by Renault in cooperation with Matra. This one-box design without B-pillars was done by Patrick Le Quément, employed at Matra, and built on the Espace III chassis.

Despite all modernities and well performance the car sales stayed poor.

Techno Classica 2006

Until this came in for an MOT, I had never heard of the XG30. I thought the Sonata was the flagship big car that was offered over here, and they're rare enough, so this must be hens teeth!

Unfortunately, they are now a little rarer, as this one seems to have been scrapped without a trace earlier this year.

Description: Powwows are large social gatherings of Native Americans who follow traditional dances started centuries ago by their ancestors, and which continually evolve to include contemporary aspects. These events of drum music, dancing, singing, artistry and food, are attended by Natives and non-Natives, all of whom join in the dancing and take advantage of the opportunity to see old friends and teach the traditional ways to a younger generation. During the National Powwow, the audience see dancers in full regalia compete in several dance categories, including Men and Women's Golden Age (ages 50 and older); Men's Fancy Dance, Grass and Traditional (Northern and Southern); Women's Jingle Dress, Fancy Shawl, and Traditional (Northern and Southern); Teens (13-17); Juniors (6-12) and Tiny Tots (ages 5 and younger). The drum groups are the heart of all powwows and provide the pulsating and thunderous beats that accompany a dancer's every movement. The powwow is led by three "host drums" that showcase three distinct styles of singing (Northern, Southern and contemporary) and represent the best examples of each style. The drum contest highlights groups of 10 to 12 members each, and they sing traditional family songs that are passed down orally from one generation to the next. The National Museum of the American Indian sponsored the National Powwow in 2002, 2005, and 2007 as a way of presenting to the public the diversity and social traditions of contemporary Native cultures.

The BMW 2002 just never seems to get old to me. Every time I see one, I fall in love again. BMW's late mid century entry level cars strike such a great balance; a tasteful and elevated take on uncomplicated driver's cars with indisputable utility. A timeless formula, and one that deserved another take on my part. Similar to my White Bird 911, this is a complete rethink of my previous 2002 design. Scaled closer to City with a shorter overall height, the proportions are improved between the greenhouse and the body and the size of the wheel/tire combo is more period correct. I just wish I could take this one out for a spin myself!

I hope you enjoy!
