jungle 2! It is soo beautiful

This is part 2, it has a gigantic showcase of Egyptian and Sumerian work, Americas, Renaissance and Europe, Indian and Asian and East Asian Exhibit. This is probably one of the few places you can see the historical database of Iraq and Syria original artifacts. We were arguing if its right to have such important works of history at display in an American museum rather than their home countries, but had these artifacts been in Syria and Iraq, especially post the war they would have been damaged beyond repair or lost forever. They are very respectful and accurate. Have a huge database of levant history from the origins.

The Mouth of Truth (Italian: Bocca della Verità [ˈbokka della veriˈta]) is an ancient Roman marble mask in Rome, Italy, which stands against the left wall of the portico of the Santa Maria in Cosmedin church, at the Piazza della Bocca della Verità, the site of the ancient Forum Boarium (the ancient cattle market). According to enduring medieval legend, it will bite off the hand of any liar who places their hand in its mouth,[1] or, alternatively, any who utters a lie while their hand is in the mouth.[2] It still attracts many visitors who insert their hands.

The massive marble mask weighs about 1,300 kg (2,900 lb) and probably depicts the face of the sea titan god Oceanus. The eyes, nostrils and mouth are open. Historians are not quite certain what the original purpose of the disc was. It was possibly used as a drain cover in the nearby Temple of Hercules Victor, which had an oculus (a round open space in the middle of the roof) similar to that of the Pantheon. Hence, it could rain inside. It is also thought that cattle merchants used it to drain the blood of cattle sacrificed to the demi-god Hercules.

In the 13th century the disc was probably removed from the temple and placed against the wall of the Santa Maria in Cosmedin. In the 17th century it eventually moved to its current location inside the portico of the church. {Wikipedia}

The Mouth of Truth was featured in the 1953 American romantic comedy film "Roman Holiday" directed and produced by William Wyler staring Audrey Hepburn as a princess out to see Rome on her own and Gregory Peck as a reporter.

It seems the amaryllis must be dripping some nectar as I noticed these ants on the shelf under it this afternoon. I thought it was interesting how they circle around the droplets so more of them can get at the drop. Whatever it is, these ants were having a great day eating it up!

Screenshot part 2. It was massive. And amazing.

Abingdon airshow 2009 Batch 2.

It was a busy and exausting weekend for me, with the Blades open day on friday (Which my daughter hasnt stopped grinning from, with her getting to sit in one of their Extra 300's!) and then from the Abington airshow. It was a really good show, with the weather eventualy clearing up and giving us with blue skies for the C-17 departure at the end of the day :)

(Somehow i took 42gig of pics while sitting at Abingdon, so i have a feeling its going to take a while to edit/post them all lol)

A tree had managed to fall directly on the trail blocking not only 1 segment but 2. It was near a switchback so we had to climb up next to the fallen tree to continue on the trail.

Why hate on that tent?

1) It's pointless

2) It blocks a view from the stadium of the US Capitol Building

Nice work, folks.

Yep it does. So much for picking the southern route...

Prototype number 2. It was a learning experience with sizing (it's too small for me...) and finishing (when and where to use zig-zag stitch.)

This picture satisfies the requirement 2. It was also taken on the link. I choose the same aperture as the previous photo. However, i changed the focus a little bit so that i could make it focus at the reflection of my camera and my cap. However, compared to the previous one, the sign on the glass was not clear and the background is also not clear. This photo has been processed by Lightroom to increase some contrast.
