Late afternoon sun paints the scene in Palisade Canyon as the Winnemucca bound 'paired track' local sails along the Humboldt. This was a nail bitter to say the least, with the sun fast retreating towards the horizon the canyon shadows were fast consuming the SP side of the river.

Two-door hardtop. The 1965 full-size Chevrolet autos were a significant change from the previous year. Curved side glass and “Coke bottle styling” were distinctive changes in styling for the model.

Although this 1965 model shared much with the 1964 Comet, one of the more obvious differences was the style of the front end. The 1964 model had quad headlights arranged horizontally, two on each end of the grille. The 1965 model above showed them stacked one over another. That was similar to the headlight arrangements for the 1965-67 full size Fords but ironically not the other Mercurys!
The ‘202’ designation was the most basic version of the Comet for this model year. There were also the mid-line ‘404’ and the premium ‘Caliente’ models of the Comet. Then there was the ‘Cyclone’ version that was offered with a 2-door hardtop body and V-8 engine standard.

A Skylark isn’t seen as often as a Chevelle of the same year model would be. This one was in pretty nice condition.
