Postvervoer per spoor waardoor deelname aan het wegverkeer een stuk veiliger was dan nu. Enfin, na de overbrengingsrit op 6 mei 2022 van het gerestaureerde Pec postrijtuig 1902, ben ik maar eens in mijn archieven gedoken. Op deze foto het postrijtuig in lichtgroene kleurstelling met zandgele bies. Utrecht Maliebaan, 25 mei 1996.

Meet Clyde! He's enormous, and he's lovable. It was a very cold day, but I'm sure that thick coat kept him toasty-warm. He came over to greet me, and I shot one frame with one hand on the camera while holding it down at knee level, not wanting to startle him. I did anyway. In all likelihood he has only been photographed with silent cellphones.
Nevertheless, we had a nice visit; he rolled over for a tummyrub. Clyde was a star performer this past Christmas, dressed as one of Santa's reindeer, riding proudly with some kids on a flatbed truck that cruised the seven streets in our village one evening piping Christmas music to the throngs. Everybody loves Clyde.

SAIL Amsterdam is a maritime event held once every five years in Amsterdam in the Netherlands. Tall ships from all over the world visit the city to moor in its eastern harbour. SAIL Amsterdam 2025 is the tenth edition, and the first one since 2015 as the 2020 event was cancelled. It was one of the main events celebrating Amsterdam's 750th birthday. It was also 50 years since the first SAIL Amsterdam was held.

This will be my last post of 9/11 tribute shots for this year. It was a privilege and an honor to be there on THE DAY 14 years later. Those 14 yeas have passed like the blink of an eye. I can still remember exactly where I was and what I was doing on the modern era "day of infamy".

Norwegian icebreaker D/S Isbjørn photographed in 1902 by Anders B. Wilse. Isbjørn, built in 1894 by Akers Mekaniske Verksted in Kristiania (Oslo), served as icebreaker for the port of Oslo until1937, when it was sold to A/S Inger (Jacob Kjøde A/S), Bergen, in order to be used for the traffic to Svalbard. This image in the Maritime Museum of Norway archive (Digital Museum) was digitally hand painted by me.
The fate of this beautiful 35.9 m ship was sad :
"on Apr. 30-1942 Isbjørn departed Greenock for Svalbard, together with the seal catcher Selis. On board was a force of 82 men, whose task it was to regain control of Svalbard. They got as far as Isfjord, but in Grønfjord the ice stopped them, and the next evening 4 German aircraft (from Norway) attacked, hitting Isbjørn with 2 bombs which immediately sank her. Selis was hit shortly thereafter and caught on fire, 12 were killed and 15 wounded. The rest scattered on the ice and were able to avoid the machine gun fire. The survivors rescued some weapons and equipment from Selis and managed to get to Barentsburg, where they were assisted by a British Naval Force on July 2."

Museum tramway from Gothenburg Railway Station to Liseberg Amusement Park. Tram no. 43 is one of the first electric trams in Gothenburg - the electric tramway started in 1902 with four lines (before that the trams had been pulled by horses).
The tram line is operated by volontary staff from the tramway society "Ringlinien" and all the income is used to maintain the trams.
