LA&L 425 & 420 lead 19 cars through the woods at Pole Bridge Road in Avon, NY on December 27, 2010. This was one of the years when the LA&L had turned the power so that 425 was the leader going North out of Lakeville. Currently it is positioned so that it is short hood forward South.
Thanks to Peter for his inspiration for this abstract.
It's amazing what a simple outing on a Thames barge can give rise to.... 😂😂
The Total Perspective Vortex derives its picture of the whole Universe on the principle of extrapolated matter analyses.....
To explain — since every piece of matter in the Universe is in some way affected by every other piece of matter in the Universe, it is in theory possible to extrapolate the whole of creation — every sun, every planet, their orbits, their composition and their economic and social history from, say, one small piece of fairy cake. The man who invented the Total Perspective Vortex did so basically in order to annoy his wife....

We all knew that if I acquired Covid 19 in combination with my underlaying Alpha-1 things could get a little tricky. I came back from Jersey on the Thursday, felt a little grotty on the Friday, ill on Saturday, tested positive on the Sunday and into hospial on the Monday and I have been here ever since! I was started on Dexamethasone and Paxlovid and had to be supported with oxygen. This morning, a bit like the parting of the Red Sea, my fever is down, headache has gone more importantly no breathlessness at rest so got out of bed and hopefully on a mends although Covid can throw swerve balls when you think you are getting better. Unfortunately at home my eldest, Abigail is also unwell and testing positive as well as Melanie who tested positive on Thursday night. All this and we have been vaccinated and boostered, just shows you that Covid is still out their and must not be taken for granted....
I am now waiting for a double negative Covid test and the all clear to get home but this may depend on Melanie and Abigail's status first, needing to be double negative before I am discharged, then the long hall of getting better and stronger over the next couple of months and hopefully no "Long Covid"
I have my laptop so in the meantime I shall continue to upload some photos when I feel up to it, still got all the Jersey photos to post, got to stop the brain fog and boredom somehow, must be getting better!
Demandez à un ami de déambuler sur un pont.
Demandez aux couleurs d'automne de surgir sur l'eau.
Demandez à votre composition d'oser une diagonale.
Le résultat ? Une sorte de minimalisme de rue UN PEU mis en scène. :-))

The photography and art work seen here are my own. The musical audio portion of which is heard here is by Robin Guthrie from his album called 3:19. The song being heard here is called 3:19 Outro from that disc. Unfortunately though I was only able to post no more for than ninety seconds. But if you turn up your speakers and watch this on the big screen or in high quality. Hopefully you will be pleased and entertained for about 90 seconds. I appreciate your comments. Flicker will only allow me to do two videos and no more each month. I no longer retain a paying account with Flicker. So I only have 11 pages and about 200 photos and a couple of videos of that are constantly being recycled and recirculated around.
It's many, many months since we've last sat in this meadow - at least since early autumn last year but maybe nearer a year ago. However, Flynn has a good memory! Today, he herded me over to this spot & made it clear he thought we should stop for a break. Who am I to argue? I flopped down on the soft grass, Flynn flopped beside me & we enjoyed soaking up the sunshine & listening to the birds together. It still makes me so happy whenever Flynn is this relaxed & confident about choosing to make physical contact. Given his history & how many years he spent fearful about getting "too close", moments like this aren't something I'll ever take for granted.
We finally moved on & after making a circuit of the field, pottered homewards. Had to increase our pace on reaching town, as storm clouds appeared out of nowhere, there was a brief burst of rain & the smell of thunder in the air. We scurried for home only making a quick stop, when I spotted a little... stick... in the gutter. Except it wasn't a stick - it was wiggling! A tiny, pale brown, slow worm (the only legless lizard species in the UK). Poor creature had got itself into bad trouble. There's a huge meadow right next to - & several feet above - the road. Occasionally, small animals slip under the fence & tumble off the wall, onto the road below. No way back up for a legless lizard! Luckily, I grabbed it before it slithered into traffic! Slow worm was understandably highly displeased when a giant hand snatched it up, but seemed pretty excited when released back into the meadow! Hope it stays safe in future!
Flynn observed this all with a patient, slightly bemused expression - he doesn't understand why I do it but by now he is well used to me grabbing random wildlife (to the point that he'll point animals out to me, if he thinks they're somewhere they shouldn't be)... Usually it's hedgehogs, frogs, or injured birds! Anyway, minor "rescue mission" done, we raced the storm home... got back just before it started properly thundering & the skies opened up.
