Three long nights of scanning old pictures and too little sleep with more interruptions than usual (teething, need I say more?) took their toll eventually so I was pretty beat on Sunday. All I wanted to do was lay down and catch up on some sleep and do nothing. But it was also my "day off", so I went out to a café downtown and got a few hours of writing done. Also, I read some 40 pages of "Hold Still", so all in all it was a good day.

I have loved these Russian daisies ever since I first saw them in Christopher Lloyd's garden, Great Dixter. 30 years and 3 gardens later I have at last managed to achieve a similar look as they have spread themselves within the brick pavers. They are not looking quite as good as they were in high summer but they are struggling on well this autumn.

was interesting seeing some of these water ladybirds feeding on Gallerucella sp leaf beetle eggs! There was thousands there, so a bit of 'control' isn't a bad thing!

This is just the best place,I just can't keep away from the place,me and my photo bubbly Richiej1 went the other morning at 5am and the mist was there which made the editing a lot easier :-)

Living in New York, and having developed an appreciation for artificial horizons, i've always wanted to photograph this particular one is this particular light. i love the red bright flaming up, and the neutral white turning warm, and am happy to say that this shot turned out exactly as i'd planned it... the airplane accentuating the direction is a bonus.
