This building is pretty, yes? Yes. I think it's Town Hall or something where I'm playing soccer. Yes? I think.

Numerically the oldest Atlantean to receive the 1986 Grampian Transport livery (excluding open top 24 and heritage 154), 188 (KSA 188P) a fresh repaint in 1988.

Again taken at the old Braehead terminus where the then soon to be closed Whitesripes Avenue joined the replacement Valentines Road.

Dieses Backsteinhaus in Prökuls hat die Zeiten nahezu unverändert überstanden.

Thankfully after yesterdays escapades I had a day off from work. A lovely day with my lil girl was in store!

Madam was due to go to school for an hour and a half taster session. This time I got to leave her... which gave me chance to go by her first school uniform bits :'o) my little girl is growing up. Got back to find she had had lots of fun! One more taster session to go before she starts in September.

In the afternoon I took her swimming just the two of us. After trying to build her confidence, she did great!

Roger tried to go to the police but they thought he was kidding when he said a man in a flying green suit stole his monkey brother!

SOOC - Oh, it's all world cup these days. We watched Germany vs. Spain to see who would play us in the final. I was secretly hoping for Germany (as I think a lot of Dutch people were), but we'll have to go up against Spain. I'm already kinda nervous and I usually don't even like watching sports. Weird.

The Bristol 188 was a British supersonic research aircraft built by the Bristol Aeroplane Company in the 1950s. Its length, slender cross-section and intended purpose led to its being nicknamed the "Flaming Pencil"

Farnborough in May 1960 saw the first aircraft delivered for structural tests before moving on to RAE Bedford. XF923 undertook the first taxiing trials on 26 April 1961 but the first flight was not until 14 April 1962 due to problems encountered. XF926 had its first flight on 26 April 1963 managing to reach a speed of Mach 1.88 (2,300 km/h) at 36,000 ft (11 km). The longest subsonic Bristol 188 flight was only 48 minutes in length, requiring 70% of the fuel load to be expended to attain its operational altitude.

The project suffered a number of problems; the main being - as mentioned above - that the fuel consumption of the engines didn't allow the aircraft to fly at high speeds long enough to evaluate the "thermal soaking" of the airframe, which was one of the main research areas it was built to investigate. Also, the takeoff speed was nearly 300 mph (480 km/h). Though it was eventually abandoned, the knowledge and technical information gained was put to some use for the future Concorde program. The inconclusive nature of the research into the use of stainless steel led to Concorde's being constructed from conventional aluminium alloys with a Mach limit of 2.2.

Experience gained with the Gyron Junior engine, which was the first British gas turbine designed for sustained supersonic operation, later assisted with the development of the Bristol (later Rolls Royce) Olympus 593 powerplant which was used on both Concorde and the BAC TSR-2.

In total the project cost £20 million. Various proposals to develop the 188 were considered including: ramjets, rockets, a fighter and reconnaissance variants. One serious proposal involved the fitting of "wedge" type intakes, but all development was terminated in 1964, the last flight of XF926 taking place on 12 January 1964.

My attempt at star trails. I will admit to getting impatient and cold, so they aren't very long.. Although this was a fascinating experience; I never quite realized just how fast the stars move. I was lying on the balcony and watching them, it was really surreal.
