September 20, 2014, the 175th aniversary of the railways in The Netherlands was celebrated. Trips with historic trains between Haarlem and Amsterdam (the first route), open doors at the Haarlem shops and the display of "1839" engine De Arend (Eagle) were the main ingredients of the festivities.

This is one very very VERY sad Jilly. I went to take a picture today at the farmers market and poof... nothing. The screen looks like the crystals were shattered somehow, no clue what caused this. So, can't see anything- no settings, no playbacks, no nothing.

I knew this sad day would come eventually, this camera has done me good for about two years now. I just feel lost.

A porter has got in the shot (and I am probably calling his parentage into question) as 175 enters Mallow with the 09.55 Tralee - Cork.

Of course, now he is "social history" as where would you find a porter (never mind one with a barrow) in a station today?

The BR Class 175 "Coradia" DMU's are owned by Angel Trains and were originally leased to First North Western, before being transferred to Arriva Trains Wales and then latterly, Transport for Wales.

27 sets were built by Alstom at Washwood Heath, Birmingham, between 1999 and 2001, with the first sets entering into service in 2000. They were constructed in two formations: the two-carriage units are numbered 175001–011, and the three-carriage units 175101–116.

Initially, they were operated by First North Western (FNW) from Birmingham New Street, Crewe and Manchester to Llandudno, Holyhead, Barrow and Windermere.

All of the units passed with the Wales & Borders franchise to Arriva Trains Wales in October 2003, when their sphere of operation extended to South Wales. 11 units though, were leased back to First Trans Pennine Express for the Barrow and Windermere services until 2006, when that franchise acquired their Class 185 units.

In October 2018, all passed to Transport for Wales, who have initiated a refurbishment programme at the Alstom facility in Widnes. It is intended to introduce them on services to Bristol but it is likely that they will be replaced by Class 197's by 2023.

We started off the day by grabbing some lunch and went swimming at the Venetian pools. There were so many pools to choose from... crazy. This is when it got kind of crazy since Kevin, here, lost his ID in the pool. Vegas without an ID = GG. Surprisingly, I was able to find it in the middle of pool after we were about to give up. Talk about lucky, man.

The night was just crazy after that after we made our way to Marquee. Apparently, I am kind of angry when I'm really gone. I started to get really pissed when we couldn't get in even though we supposed to be on a "guest list." Luckily, again, we were pulled to a separate line on the rooftop and made our way in. By the time I bought some more drinks in the club, I was really drunk haha. Fun times though. We walked the strip until the sun rose after that. That's one night I'll remember forever... or the parts I can remember at least.

Blah, blah, blah! So this is from Coraline. . . kind of. lol No, I don't like it . . . but I don't have anything better, or a better idea. I was planning on doing a cheesey/creepy smile, but I hate my smile most days. So I did a smirk, and it just doens't fit. And yes, this is suppost to be if Coraline did get her buttons. . . whatever. Hope everyone had a good weekend.

An ATW Class 175 heads west (left to right) across Ordsall Lane Junction with a train from Manchester Piccadilly to North Wales.

The train will travel along the Stephensons' masterpiece as far as Earlestown when it will swing sharply south for Warrington Bank Quay, Chester and over the border.

Please note the extensive building work in view.
