(2 - )Something about her drew me to her, and kept me from tossing her back into the bin - maybe her cute blush and freckles?
No, wait, I remember .......... she was dressed in the original 1962 Garden Party dress ... NOTHING! could have induced me to lay her back down!
Her original knee-length hair has been cut by some previous owner to just a little longer than shoulder-length, and she's missing some hair plugs above each ear, but the right style should cover that well enough (and she's a good candidate for re-rooting, if I ever decide to try that).
Still seeking ID info on this dress - which I'm guessing might be a clone since it has no tag - but it is surprising well made, so who knows?
It began as an ankle length gown edged in white lace, but there was significant damage to the bottom, so I have shortened it to cocktail length (which I like better anyhow), and I removed that obnoxious rosette with trailing ribbons.
合歡越嶺古道‧大禹嶺段
台灣在日治時期，日人於平地治理已具成效後，因漢人抗日活動已大致平息，已可以武力全心鎮壓高山的原住民，日方任命曾經在牡丹社事件對原住民作戰的佐久間左馬太為第5任台灣總督，這位戰爭英雄、日本武士成為總督後不再以隘勇線及電流鐵絲網隔離原住民領域，轉而南撫布農族，北討泰雅族，最後以70歲高齡向東部發動太魯閣戰爭，以軍警東西夾擊太魯閣族；為征服太魯閣族人，於1914年開始以原住民連絡道為基礎，興建了西起霧社，東沿濁水溪上游越過合歡山，由大禹嶺沿立霧溪而下，經錐麓斷崖、燕子口最後抵達花蓮新城的太魯閣的軍用道路，也就是合歡越嶺古道的前身。在動員共約兩萬人的軍、警、民伕與太魯閣族各部落戰爭時，佐久間左馬太也在山區受重傷，征伐完最後一支頑強的台灣原住民部族後解職回日本，不久後即不治。
在發動戰爭前開始探查路線時，日人不信台灣高山也有寒冬及大雪，探勘路線的隊伍遇上大雪又無足夠禦寒裝備，在合歡山造成台灣登山史上最大的山難事件。
昔時合歡越嶺古道沿線曾設置許多駐在所，以控制監視原住民活動，所經區域大致為現今台14甲線(中橫霧社支線)接至中橫東段出太魯閣的路線，所經高度和公路不盡相同，其中部份路段後來開闢為中部橫貫公路及霧社支線。
現今尚存的合歡越嶺道有錐麓古道、綠水合流步道等熱門路線，及較冷門的大禹嶺路段等。大禹嶺段位處北合歡山埡口，步道路線經過大禹嶺隧道上方，為連絡梨山、霧社、太魯閣三方向的重要三岔路口，後蔣經國先生因為此處其地形險要、開鑿公路時克難艱險，不亞於大禹治水，而改稱為大禹嶺，並有建造中橫開路紀念碑的涼亭，以紀念開闢之艱辛，涼亭附近多為松樹，遺留有日軍傳送電訊的電阻「礙子」，即為當年日軍之通訊設施；可惜如今涼亭破損，紀念碑亦不復見。
太魯閣國家公園以雄偉壯麗、幾近垂直的大理石峽谷景觀聞名。沿著立霧溪的峽谷風景線而行，觸目所及皆是壁立千仞的峭壁、斷崖、峽谷、連綿曲折的山洞隧道，大理岩層和溪流等風光。四百萬年前，菲律賓海洋板塊與歐亞大陸板塊碰撞而成台灣，慢慢降起的中央山脈表層岩層受到風化侵蝕作用而剝離，大理岩因而露出地表。這些大理岩受到立霧溪長期侵蝕下切作用與地殼不斷隆起上升，形成幾乎垂直的U型峽谷。公園內巨峰林立，從清水到南湖大山頂，落差達3,742公尺，造就了層次複雜的植物林相，並提供野生動物棲息活動的空間。
Taroko National Park
Taroko became a national park in 1986, including Hualien County, Nantou County and Taichung County. It is the second largest national park in Taiwan. Taroko is famous for its spectacular mountains and marble canyons. Cliffs and canyons stretch along Li Wu River. Four million years ago, the island of Taiwan was formed by the collision of plates. After millions of years of wind erosion, the marble rocks were exposed and cut by Li Wu River, creating impressive grand canyons. From Tsing Shui to Nan Hu Peak, the drop height is 3,742 meters. Such special geography has also bred special flora and fauna in this area.

This "friend of teen Skipper" is in reasonably nice condition for a 22 year old doll IMO, although she is a bit hair challenged.
I don't mind the shorter length that some previous owner gave her (she was produced with knee-length hair, which I find excessive, to be honest).
I actually feel that she could use some additional trimming where the dark under layer is currently longer than the top, highlighted layer. There are plugs missing above each ear (there must be an interesting story that goes with that ...?), so an updo is not right for her, but the right style should cover nicely, for now.

.. . and the handwriting has changed. I would surmise that this handwriting belongs to Osmo Lahti, Binky Marks's successor as manager of the People's Co-op Bookstore.
