Actually it's a staircase from the stars, which you walk down to leave the Mercedes Benz Museum with its more than 1500 exhibits on 16500 m².
The capital, Kirkwall is to the right in the image. Taken from the summit of Wideford Hill that is 225 metres above sea level.
One of the Rarest of the Rare, this 1935 Duesenberg SJN Convertible Victoria reportedly has only 16500 miles on the odometer, and except for paint, upholstery and a few minor touch-ups, is basically original, and owned for nearly 60 years by the same family, who, obviously didn't drive it much, unlike you and I who would have been in it daily.
Designed by Rollston's Herb Newport, this Cabrio was part of the 1933 introduced JN series which featured wider body slotted over the chassis to lower the silhouette, and there were 4 (maybe 5) convertibles, the first going to Clark Gable. This particular example is reported to be the only factory supercharged JN produced and uses extensive aluminum to lighten the car. Pretty spectacular creature over all.

SNCF 16734, Rémilly (ligne Metz - Forbach), 04 Octobre 2007.
Sous une lumière de fin de journée, la 16734 quitte Rémilly en pousse d'une rame RIO modernisée Lorraine sur un TER Metz - Forbach d'heure de pointe. A cette époque, les couplages 16500+RIO/RRR assuraient la quasi intégralité de la desserte régionale sur cette relation.
SNCF 16632, Pontpierre (ligne Forbach - Metz), 01 juillet 2008.
A l'époque où les 16500 et leurs rames RIO/RRR assuraient la quasi totalité des TER entre Metz et Forbach, la 16632 fait route vers Metz avec un train de début de soirée, vu aux abords du village de Pontpierre.
Le TER 835530 Remiremont - Nancy-Ville est prêt au départ à sa gare d'origine, poussé par la vaillante BB 16738.

Not as often as I'm on that side of the camera,in Rainbow Mountain Trek , 16500 feet or 5029 meters .Rainbow Mountain is a moderately difficult hike to embark on. The altitude makes the hike difficult to conquer by foot – you'll likely feel short of breath throughout the entire journey and it will seem like you're pushing through a thick wall of air with every step that you take. its a 6.2-mile out-and-back trail near Pitumarca, Cusco.

My daughter and I shared a fascinating day visiting the Weaver Creek Spawning Channel, near Agassiz, BC. This man-made channel adds 3km to the spawning creek for sockeye, chum and pink salmon. The peak spawning period is Oct 15-20, so when we arrived, not only were the creek beds full, but so was the parking lot. The survival rate of eggs to the fry stage in the spawning channel is 12 times greater than in Weaver Creek itself, because of the favourable conditions created there. The average annual commercial catch of sockeye returning to this channel is estimated to be 300,000. As of October 15th, the number of salmon that had returned to spawn this year was 16500 sockeye, 1700 chum and 580 pink. Can you imagine the rush in the next two weeks! It really was an amazing sight to see.

On the left another of the 25150 class, on the right one of the numerous 16500's, operating only on 25kV AC, and dating from around 1960.

Le soleil vient malheureusement tout juste de se coucher lorsque ce tandem de BB27000 du FRET évacue une 16500 et sa RIO, tombés en panne en gare de Béning quelques heures plus tôt.

La Z11507 encore en livrée jaune Mirabelle de la Région Lorraine, stationne à Forbach pour le week-end. En 2002, les Z2 assurent encore la très grande majorité des TER sur la ligne entre Metz et Forbach. Elles seront ensuite très vite remplacées par des 16500 et rames inox régionales sur cette relation, puis des ZGC à partir de 2009.
An overbridge gave me a view of a local Hauts-de-France TER train departing from Valenciennes station. Hauled by a BB 16500 ‘Danseuse’ locomotive, the train comprises INOX push-pull coaches. New EMUs were already replacing these sets at the time of my photograph.

Una de las veteranas de la SNCF, hoy fuera de servicio, la 16716 efectuando maniobras en la parisina estación de Gare du Nord a la espera de encabezar una composición TER.
Paris (France). Año 2007.
Ambiance en gare de Thaon les Vosges en novembre 2008; croisement entre 2 trains, l'un vers Nancy l'autre en direction d'Epinal. Aujourdhui le batiment est rasé, les 16500 n'existent plus.
The peak SNCF services provide a good selection of BB-16500+ RIO sets into Luxembourg during this period.
SNCF 16650, St-Avold (ligne Forbach - Metz), 25 Juillet 2007.
La 16650 quitte la gare de St-Avold le 25/07/2007, alors qu'elle assure un TER Forbach - Metz, accompagnée d'une RIO modernisée MetroLor. A cette époque, la grande majorité des trains TER sont couverts par ce matériel sur cette ligne. Les 16500 et leurs rames inox disparaitront du paysage Lorrain en 2009.
C'était un lundi après-midi en fin des grandes vacances 1994 que j'attendais des 12000 et 14100. Mais le seul train de marchandises arrivait en UM de 16500.

La BB 16700 traverse la gare d'Aulnoye (59), en tête d'un train de porte-autos GEFCO.
Prévue pour des essais d'attelage automatique, la BB 16700 etait équipée à cet effet d'un châssis renforcé et allongé et de capots d'extrémités. Elle restera dans cette configuration jusqu'à sa radiation le 1er octobre 2005, avec 5 368 505 km au compteur.
