Fudge and his friend Toffee
The weather is still pretty dreary so we haven't been doing anything very exciting this week.
This is a quick snap of Fudge with our cat Toffee, who is the boss as we already had him before we got Fudge. They get on quite well although unfortunately they don't snuggle up, depriving me of cute photo opportunities.

While returning a book to the shelf, in the hall, something distracts me. I try to walk on by, but it is useless to waste thoughts of false intentions. Admittedly, it is the alure of the light that brings me into the office today. I reassure myself that I won't stay long. Then, in this wandering moment, I know the image for my project can be this today.
I believe that when we are mindfully present and soulfully appreciating all things, big and small, nothing is ordinary.

It felt like an all over and somewhat scattered sort of day today so I figured rather than fight it, I may as well embrace it and work it into a photo. No real theme for today; just a spattering of this and that.

Ni bien vi la foto terminada recordé éste tema que no paraba de cantar cuando era chica! Me dió mucha gracia los laberintos de la memoria.
NS intermodal train 214, led by the Lackawanna heritage unit, passing the soon-to-be-replaced former Southern Railway signal bridge at Winston, Virginia.
... the sun had set, and then set the clouds on fire. Would have been a perfect evening if, when we finished taking photos, the car would have started. Had to call a friend to give us a jump start. Oh well, it was worth it! Battery was replaced the next day.
Sock waiting around this afternoon for his favourite blanket to finish up in the dryer.

Norfolk Southern train 65X headed south at Compton, Virginia on the former N&W Shenandoah line. The bridge on U.S. route 340 and the road's current alignment are relatively new; the railroad's trestle dates back to the steam era.

I haven't really spotted a pileated woodpecker in the neighbourhood since May. I hear them once in a while but they don't seem to be too interested in modeling.
Well, I was fortunate today! Not one, not two, but three pileated woodpeckers showed up in the backyard and at least one was not camera shy and posed for a few photos.

A public dock in the Starved Rock State Park has signage restricting fishing, swimming and the length of time that their boats can be tied up to the dock. Other signs warned that although the water may look calm, there are strong and dangerous currents along the shore.
