One of my favourite toner combinations for silver gelatine prints is thiourea (MT3 Vario) followed by selenium (MT1). With the new MT17 selenium toner, similar results are now possible with Kallitypes.
From left to right: Sodium acetate developer, MT3 Vario toner (bleach 1+75 30 secs and toner setting A) over-toned with MT17 1+7 2 mins.

GUM 15 is an emission nebula in the Vela constellation, around 3000 light years from earth.
Perhaps a somewhat less familiar designation, the GUM catalog contains a total of 85 nebulae. It was put together by astronomer Colin Stanley Gum (and hence named after him).

Taken about 15 minutes later and a few steps down the beach from the last post. The blue light colors are beginning to fade. I particularly like this view because it includes Artists' Point to the right.

"And now for something completely different"
This year I spent all my time with black redstarts. I did however, for one morning, go down to Horn Mill Trout Farm, Rutland with my friend Ivan Ellison, leaving at midnight for an early morning start. It was getting late in the year for ospreys but we knew some birds were knocking around so we took pot luck and hired a hide. Ivan had a Canon R6 mkII which has blazingly fast subject tracking and he got some wonderful diving shots. As for me well I am crap. We had two opportunities in half decent light and I missed the first one whilst changing a tele-converter and on the second occasion I missed the splash but got the osprey after it had dropped the fish. So here it is my only shot of the morning. It is full frame but it shows the effects of rolling shutter in the background. This effect is the worst thing associated with the Canon R7 but in truth for most of what I do it makes little difference. We finished by mid morning and we drove back to Manchester and I attended to my black redstarts. I asked myself was the trip worth the expense and all the travelling....answer, yes! It's the experience, the hope, the anticipation and seeing these birds close up. Also if it were easy it would not be worthwhile. For the record, I am crap at flight shots, always have been and always will be.
