No. 15 Wilkes Street (known as Wood Street up to the late nineteenth century) was part of the Wood-Michell Estate, developed by Charles Wood of Lincoln's Inn and Simon Michell of the Middle Temple between 1718 and 1728. No 15 (then 22 Wood Street) was built by William Tayler, citizen and joiner, under a ninety-nine year lease from Wood and Michell of March 1723-24. It is of yellow and pink brick and was rebuilt around 1790. It has three storeys, with basement. and two windows wide. The windows have flat brick arches with stone sills. The sashes are recessed. The arched doorway has a stucco architrave which dates from the nineteenth century. The 1969 listing records a 'small shop front', subsequently removed.

I have posted this photo on Flickr before and it features WM Buses Leyland National 1731 VNO 731S in Birmingham City Centre on 17.08.96. I forgot at the time of posting that it appeared in Episode 1 of the BBC Comedy Sunnyside Farm which must of been 1996 and I recently managed to acquire the one and only series on DVD recently from a website on the net. I just wander if anyone else remembers this series? I watched them in 1996 but only just watched them again and seems like yesterday. The bus was apparently loaded with cows by the farm hand and the bus is seen several times in the half hour show and it returns at the end of the show to supposedly drop the cows back at the farm, complete with route 14 up front. The farmer, in his attempt to track down the cows phones a bus company called Wayfarer Buses! He says he has some lost property. He says cows, 15. Then he replies 'you want me to what off!'. I wonder whether the bus had been retired from service for this filming or was used in service again after?

I have never been a "girly" girl. Truthfully, I wanted to be a boy until I was about 15, then I just gave up...the bod was at that point becoming feminine whether I wanted it to or not. One time when I was in college there was a mouse loose in the library. I was trying to help the guy who owned the mouse catch it, we were running between aisles of book shelves trying to corner it. It darted out to the middle of an aisle and a girl I knew well (she was the center on the basketball team, I played post) saw it and began to scream and jump up and down. The poor mouse took a wrong turn and *CRUNCH* he was flattened. I was sad for the mouse but it was freaking hilarious. I don't mind spiders either, or snakes...in fact, i love bugs, reptiles, amphibians and the like. I admit to being scared of bees and wasps...but they still fascinate me.

This is the piano I played on until I was 15. Then I stopped. When I was 25 my parents were going to sell it. I wouldn't let them and persuaded them to keep it until I could accommodate it. 6 years later I got it. That was 15 months ago. I only have played it about 3 times in that time. Bad bad girl. I really must play it more and book up those refresher lessons......

Processing on this one included cropping, using layers to add an unsharp mask, turning one layer to B&W, turning another layer to sepia & lowering opacity on that layer to about 15%, then brightening & adding a mild blur with an ethereal glow action at a 20% opacity.

 

12/30/15- Then I go to the drop outs and set their width and height off the plate WRT the gage. The gage isn't as exact as I can measure so I flip the fork 180* and redo this step to split the difference. The wood shaft is my lever to bend the blades.

(I have not blocked the hat at all, nor rolled the lip much for the picture, I still need to shape it by hand a little)

For Mother's Day I made this sunhat as a gift to my mom. I found some discrepancies in the gauge and had to rework the pattern a little because of this, as well as the fact that I am a tight crocheter. Read on for my alterations if you should encounter the same issues when attempting the pattern.

  

The pattern keeps telling you to check the gauge of your swatch vs their instructions. By their approximations I should have been using a US 6.5 K hook to obtain the perfect swatch (even though it says to try a G hook first) but this left the fabric incredibly flimsy and not at all workable for a hat which needs some stiffness to it to hold the brim shape. I used the US 4.25 G hook which was much more suitable per the yarn. That right there presented some issues later on.

 

It has you make the flower motifs for the band first - 8. I needed to make 10 due to my pattern adjustments. Follow their directions on stitching them together. (flowers were 2" across vs the pattern saying they should be 2 and 3/4") On a side note, I don't like how they ask for the flowers to be stitched together, it looks weird between them. I think stitching them by the petal tips would have been cuter.

 

The top of the hat comes next. The thing to keep in mind while working the spiral is that your outcome needs to be divisible by 9 (stitches) as these will later connect to the flowers on the band you made first. This is also how you can make the hat bigger or smaller, good thing to keep in mind (smaller - less flowers in the band, bigger - more flowers in the band). Now, they stop at 72 stitches around and this would have fit a child (was 5" across instead of the 7" they specified), and as I was making the hat for a mother's day present to my mom I did not wish to crush her skull by forcing this hat on her (lol). So I added three rows as follows where they left off:

Round 12: *1st ST SCx2 then 1 SC next 11 stitches* repeat 6 times -78-

Round 13: *1st ST SCx2 then 1 SC next 12 stitches* repeat 6 times -84-

Round 14: *1st ST SCx2 then 1 SC next 13 stitches* repeat 6 times -90- - 6.5" diameter here. Do 4 even rounds.

Now the pattern shifts from divisible by 9 to divisible by 8 because they specified 72 stitches. I, however, was at 90 and the top of the hat was very snug. So, I decided to give my mom's head a little more breathing room and for the hat to conform snugly but not tightly to the rounding of the skull. They wanted 4 rounds of even stitches, but I expanded a bit and also made sure to bring myself to a divisible of 8 count in stitching so as not to confuse myself for the rest of the brim. I did as follows:

Round 15: *1st ST SCx2 then 1 SC next 13 stitches* repeat 6 times -90- (matches the band)

Round 16: *1st ST SCx2 then 1 SC next 14 stitches* repeat 6 times -96-

Round 17: *1st ST SCx2 then 1 SC next 15 stitches* repeat 6 times -102-

Round 18: *1st ST SCx2 then 1 SC next 16 stitches* repeat 4 times, then *1st ST SCx2 then 1 SC next 7 stitches* four times -112-

 

At this point I tried the hat on and compared to their example photo, mine was still a bit short, so I added one even row.

 

For the brim I followed the basis of their directions, but adjusted it to my present stitch count per round:

Round 19: *SC 13 then 2 SC in 1 ST* x8 around. Do 1 even round after. -120 each round-

Round 20: *SC 14 then 2 SC in 1 ST* x8 around. Do 1 even round after. -128 each round-

Round 21: *SC 15 then 2 SC in 1 ST* x8 around. Do 1 even round after. -136 each round-

Round 22: *SC 16 then 2 SC in 1 ST* x8 around. Do 1 even round after. -144 each round-

Round 23: *SC 17 then 2 SC in 1 ST* x8 around. Do 1 even round after. -152 each round-

Round 24: *SC 18 then 2 SC in 1 ST* x8 around. Do 1 even round after. -160 each round-

 

I opted against the last two rows (What would have been #25) because I tried the hat on and it looked really cute as it was.

 

I know an experienced crocheter will probably ask what the hell I am doing, but these alterations were necessary for a proper outcome. I would not suggest someone who crochets loosely to adapt to my alterations.

 

On Friday March 7th 2025, recently renumbered and repainted GROG Pool 37 501, 'Teesside Steelmaster', along with 37 884 'Cepheus' worked a pair of former First Great Western HST Power Cars (Nos. 43 020 and 43 017) north through Peterborough. They'd been stored at Ely for a few years, and were being moved to Burton on Trent.

So I drove out the Dulles Toll Road to the Greenway's end at Rt. 15, then took 15 south, heading for I-66 farther out. I wasn't sure I would make it to Skyline Drive while it was still light out - I had gotten a late start to my day, thanks to Henry, but I figured that I'd just enjoy the route as long as the light lasted. I remembered that Rt. 15 was sort of a country-ish road, kind of suburbia, too. Well, let me tell you, since I last went that way a couple years ago, Suburbia has taken more of a stronghold on it! That was a bit disappointing. Too much construction and too many traffic signals now.

 

I finally reached I-66 and headed west. Around 22 miles to go to the exit for Skyline Drive, it was about 5:15, and I saw this sign for Big Meadows State Park, and I thought, Heck, maybe that's good enough of a destination. So I exited, went a few miles, and found it around 5:30. Still an hour of sunlight before too-dark twilight, and I made good use of it. This is a shot having entered the park and approaching the parking area.

Notes: A. Hautecoeur was a publisher and seller of photographs and prints located at 172 rue de Rivoli. The firm was originally founded by Aaron Martinet as Ancienne Maison Martinet. After his marraige to Martinet's daughter in 1822, Hermenégilde Hautecoeur took over running the firm in 1824. In later years the firm was run by the next generation, Eugène (1822-1870) and Alfred Hautecoeur (1824-1882), and the name Martinet was dropped. Prior to joining the firm Eugene and Alfred worked together from 1843 to 1867 under the name "Hautecoeur Brothers". Ross & Cromarty Constabulary - James Henderson

 

Photograph would have been taken at Fortrose between the adoption of the Scottish Constabulary crest as cap badge in 1930 and Sgt Henderson's retiral in 1939.

 

Possibly this photograph was of him and his Section Constables to commemorate his retirement.

 

Clearly the Force issued collar numbers to Sergeants in order of seniority, Sergeant Henderson bearing the numeral 1 - he would have been the longest serving officer in that rank,

 

(He had worn the number 19 as a Constable)

 

James Henderson was born at Invercharron near Ardgay Ross-shire on 14 January 1880. He worked initially as a railway clerk at Ardgay before joining the Ross & Cromarty Constabulary as a Constable in 1902.

 

He retired from the police in 1939. He then became Inspector of Weights and Measures for Ross and Cromarty and worked in that capacity for a long period until his death in June 1955 aged 75 years.

 

During his police career, he served at Dingwall, Stornoway, Tain, North Kessock, then Muir of Ord where he was promoted to Sergeant in 1911, and finally Fortrose where he remained until the end of his police career.

The following information has been obtained from the Personnel Register of Ross & Cromarty Constabulary:-

 

James A E M Henderson (Railway clerk, native of Invercharron, Ross & Cromarty) joined the Ross & Cromarty Constabulary on 14/01/1902 aged 22 (exactly!).

 

Originally stationed at Dingwall (to learn the job), he was transferred to Stornoway in June 1902, then to Tain (Feb '04); Taken on as a 3rd class Constable, he was promoted to 2nd class on 15/2/1903, and to 1st class in June 1904.

 

He moved again - North Kessock - in Oct '07 where on 31/10/09 he was promoted to Sergeant. In October 1911 he removed to Muir of Ord (probably because the Muir was becoming busy and a more appropriate location for the "West Black Isle" Sergeant).

 

Then in July 1915 he transferred to Dingwall, (where he was promoted to Detective Sergeant 8/7/15) then back to Muir of Ord in November 1918 as uniformed Sergeant.

 

I surmise that his position as Det Sgt was War-related and supernumerary since he returned to his old station, and former rank of Sgt, at the end of the War.

 

The County was particularly busy due to the war - the Sgt in Invergordon for example (where there was a large naval base) eventually received the Kings Police Medal for his work during the war.

 

Sgt Henderson's final transfer was in October 1922, to Fortrose where he retired on pension on 25/10/1939. The record shows he died on 4/6/55.

 

In May 1909 he passed the exam to be an Inspector of weights and Measures, and in Nov 1923 he passed the Advanced Police Examination.

 

On 6/5/35 he was awarded the King George V Silver Jubilee Medal on recommendation of Supt + DCC William MacLean (who later became Chief Constable):

"for long service and good character and merit during the reign of HM King George V"

2014 Supercross premiere is finally here!!! I'm so stoked to watch it tonight. So much action and excitement. Lots of my friends and I have ridden/raced for years. I certainly miss it. When I went to college I sold my bike.

 

I used to have a 2003 Honda CR85 back when I was 15. Then once I sold that I bought a 2007 Yamaha YZ250F. I loved that bike so much and it was in seriously mint condition. I know I'll get another bike again in the future.

Park County. View of an entrance to the Crazy Mountain Ranch, very near the former site of Rockcreek. Rockcreek was east of Clyde Park, along Hammond Creek on the western side of the Crazy Mountains. It took its name from the nearby Rock Creek, which flows out of the Crazy Mountains into the Shields River near Clyde Park. A post office was active at Rockcreek from 1902 (January 29) to 1937 (February 15), then was known as Criswell for a few months before the office was closed on the last day of 1937. Martha Kelley served as the first postmaster at Rockcreek, while May Terry was the postmaster at the Criswell post office. Today, the former Criswell Ranch and Rockcreek townsite is part of the Crazy Mountain Ranch owned by Philip Morris USA; a faux old western town has been created on the ranch as part of a resort built for Philip Morris customers (visits only by contest winners or invitation). The former Rockcreek post office building is reportedly part of the western town on the ranch.

The annual fireworks show at Elver Park was tonight. You know that means that I have to play with light painting. I narrowed the shots down to 15, then down to four, and this was my favorite, edging out another by a very shallow margin.

 

This is a 2-second long handheld exposure. Toward the end of the show, I had bumped up the shutter speed to around 5 seconds.

Last Weekend (9th and 10th April 2016) the 4 and the 5 were withdrawn from North Town. This Was replaced with a new service 14 which would run between Aldershot Wellington Centre, Aldershot Bus Station and North town, then continue to Heron Wood Estate as Service 15 then do the Whole loop Again.

Here is Solo 47738 in Aldershot Bus Station about to Work a Service 14 to North Town. Shortly after this an alarm went off and it was taken back to the depot and YD63 UYT Was put in its place.

Announcing the press release of the self-published E-book by Michael R. Meade called, "Jesus Christ Is The Anachrist-Anity.”

The writer explains that the ancient Egyptian Ankh represents eternal life by the trileteral sign of the Hooped Cross and the Crucifix by the Trinity of the Christian Cross. He then explains when you look closely at the Ankh hieroglyph it clearly resembles a person nailed to the cross with their arms outstretched horizontally with both feet together and the round ball on the top is the head.

The writer states if you look closely at the Crucifix over the head of Jesus along with the two figures on each side you will see the Arabic Crescent Shaped Sickle Moon Letter “Ha” in the form of a “Ha”-lo.

 

The writer also states that the Ankh, also known as the key of life, the key of the Nile or crux ansata (Latin meaning "cross with a handle"), was the ancient Egyptian hieroglyphic character that read "life", a triliteral sign for the consonants Ayin Nun Ha or “A-N-A”. It represents the concept of eternal life, which is the general meaning of the symbol. The Egyptian gods are often portrayed carrying it by its loop or bearing one in each hand, arms crossed over their chest. The writer states if you look at the bottom of the Ankh the lines Cross and if you look to the right and left of the bowl you will see two blue crescent shaped moons that are standard fixtures atop all mosques around the world.

From the trileteral phrase Ayin Nun Ha (ANA) the sign of eternal life on the ancient Egyptian Ankh you get Nanna/Sin the God of Mesopotamia in the form of a Crescent Moon who was the Man of Sin or Man of Lawlessness and the Anna-Christ identified in 2 Thessalonians 2:3 that is synonymous with the word Ana-rchist.

Inanna/Ishtar was the Sumerian goddess of sexual love, fertility, and warfare, Queen of Heaven and daughter of Nanna/Sin the Crescent Moon God in Mesopotamia.

 

From the trileteral (Ana) sign of eternal life on the ancient Egyptian Ankh you get Ana-t or Anath, the lover and consort of Baal, a major northwest Semitic goddess of war worshipped in North Africa, the Horn of Africa and in the Middle East. When you combine Christ with Anat you get Christ-t-a-na-t. In Egypt she was known as Antit, A-nit, or the Anti-Christ.

The writer states that in Egyptian mythology there was (Ta) Neith or Ta nit, an early war goddess in the Egyptian pantheon with the crossed arrows and shield on her head and if you look closely at the Stone statute of Tanit in Carthage's Tophet you will see a replica of the Ancient Egyptian Ankh in hieroglyphics with the crescent moon of Islam over the figure. The writer further states that the Key Of Solomon has the exact same symbolism as the stone statue in Carthage and the Ankh from ancient Egypt. When you combine Christ with Tanit you get Chris-t-an-i-t.

My mom bought these treats for Dottie today. She comes over and lets her out during the day while I have been working. I hope the next job I find I can take Dottie with me again eventually. My mom does things like buying the treats and that is what I will always remember about her.

 

I was sick this morning when I went to work at the bookstore but I started there at 8 am today and left at 6:15. Then I went straight to my inventory job that started at 7 pm and I got done at 11:15pm. Tonight it was a different supervisor and she is much nicer to work with.

 

At my bookstore job today was supposed to be my last day. I am not sure but I may get called back because the person that would take over my greeting job got fired today. I would not mind doing it until I can find something else. I get bored out of my mind sitting in the chair when it is slow and not many students/customers shopping. I can't stand sitting still for too long and not doing anything. I will miss seeing the students that I have gotten to know or recognize over the last few weeks. I hope that people will notice that I made a difference, at least I think I did, and I hope they will miss me being there.

Bell's Vireo showed up in October in two previous years at this same location in the west Miramar WCA. This year I first photographed it on October 15, then on October 30 and 31. The last time I got a photo was on November 4, although I had fleeting looks and was quite sure I heard its call a couple of times during the following week. I have braved the mosquito swarms and checked the area almost every morning since then, but pretty gave up on finding it until this morning at about 9:00 AM when it appeared unexpectedly while I was photographing some insects. I left the lens in macro mode and was lucky that the bird came out into the open in good light for about 10 seconds.

RESEARCH/ADDITIONAL NOTES:

I have drawn the two figures (& the donkey!) in previous scenes in this set. I am uncertain of the motives of the old prophet from Bethel in deliberately deceiving the man of God from Judah. I suppose he could have just been curious about him, and so wanted to spend longer in his company. If that is true then getting the man of God to go home & eat with him would naturally have provided the old prophet with plenty of opportunity to find out about the man of God. I suppose the old prophet could have been working for king Jeroboam & so trying to “trip up” the man of God. Whatever his motivation, I decided to make the old prophet from Bethel look vaguely like a sorcerer, complete with pointed hat, red robes and a large staff. I have given him a rather severe expression on his face, which informs you his motives are not pure, which we know from verse 18 where we read, “But the old man was lying to him”.

 

The man of God from Judah is sitting under a Pistacia terebinthus (Terebinth terpentine tree). The trees in the background are Olea europaea (olive trees).

Revisited Angkor Wat to check it in all it's sunrise glory. A few tips for this: Bring a wide angle lens and be there before before 5:30! The place was already filled with people by the time we got there. I think we left the hotel around 5:15 then so we were a bit late already. Just got lucky that I was able to squeeze in a few shots without much people in the way. Of course, the visit wouldn't have been complete without us taking photos in the main walkway. Hahaha!

 

Had lunch in Il Forno in the Pub Street area. Highly recommended for their pizzas and pastas! The rest of the day was spent on a random trip to a nearby fishing village. Awesome time on a boat if not for those kids with the snakes. :|

This locomotive has been stable-diet on the Ironbridge PS - LBT biomass circuit from 27/11/14 until last Sunday - 15/2/15: when it was swopped in favour of 66721. 66749 after having moved from Ironbridge PS to Crewe on 15/2/15 then subsequently moved onwards on 16th to Hams Hall to take up 4L22 Hams Hall - Felixstowe modal duties. Half expecting it to be 'ripped' at Peterborough on 16th I discovered that it had in fact made the round trip and is seen on 4L22 at Whitacre Junction on the 17th having just departed Hams Hall (with DC at the controls).

Had lunch in Il Forno in the Pub Street area. Highly recommended for their pizzas and pastas! The rest of the day was spent on a random trip to a nearby fishing village. Awesome time on a boat if not for those kids with the snakes. :|
