Algoma Central Railway SW8 141 at Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada on an unknown day in August 1977, Kodachrome by Dave Phillips, Chuck Zeiler collection. Number 141 was built by GMD in April 1952 ( c/n A281 ), eventually becoming NREX 141.
Had a great time over the last four days with Eleanor. It was 99% great, with just 1% not quite so good. The 1% being entirely down to Eleanor's reaction to my wearing the socks I'd bought for the previously weekly group theme. They seriously didn't go down well. Sometimes it was roll of the eyes and accompanying 'tut', Others it was brandishing them 'simply horrible'. And there was even an earnest appeal of 'Dad, please, I really don't want you to wear them'.
That aside it was fantastic. Castles, crafts, pizza, films, games, books, adventures and even gambling on sheep racing. The latter sounds difficult to warm to, but when your chosen sheep comes round the final bend in the lead, its strapped on teddy bear jockey clinging on for dear life... I tell you, its every bit as thrilling as the horses.
Yes, I really did enjoy it. After finishing a bedtime story, I tucked Eleanor in. I told her that I loved her. She smiled, her eyes half closed and said that she loved me too. And hearing that you couldn't swap your life for anyone elses. Magic.

You can almost guarantee, when something important has to be photographed, the weather will fail to cooperate. It is now getting quite wet and miserable as 141 enters Carrowmore station with the 10.30 Sligo - Limerick "Burma Road" goods.
