Marivold øst for Grimstad by 13. april 2024. Denne maskingevær-stillingen (leichtes Maschinengewehr Stellung) med tilhørende løpegrav, er sprengt ned i en bratt fjellknatte sørøst for kanonstillingene i hær-kyst-batteriet H.K.B. 32./979 Grimstad. Bildet er tatt i vestlig retning. Den korte stubben av en jernstang som stikker opp fra betongen tyder enda en gang på at mannskapene ved kystfortet ikke hadde tilgang på MG 34, da stillingen ble støpt. Jernstanga ble trolig brukt som feste for en eldre type maskingevær, eller norskproduserte Colt M/29 mitraljøser. Legg merke til den rektangulære vesle lomma for lagring av ammunisjon og utstyr.
Ate Ami is a senior social worker and helps direct the residential program. She is fantastic – gave us a really comprehensive overview of the biggest issues in the Philippines and what Stairway is doing to address them. She jokes that she is not a very good Filipina woman. She doesn’t believe in Filipino time (punctuality doesn’t really exist here), she is not religious (in a country that is 85% Catholic), she speaks her mind and doesn’t mess around. “You see, Filipinos are very passive – always non-confrontational – but I will tell you when you’re screwing up.” Love her.
