Less than half a year ago I was talking about how I felt like VR gaming for everyone was just around the corner, and look what we got in our living room now!

It's called a Vive, and here we have Gaute drawing me (don't you see the resemblance?) in the drawing game. It has no lag or motion sickness, like the developer version of Oculus Rift had. The picture on screen in the headset is relatively sharp and impressive, plus you have controllers acting as your hands in the game. So much fun!

The original portion of the Moland house was built by John Moland in the mid-1700’s. In 1761, following John Moland’s death, the house was transferred to his daughters and youngest son. Mrs. Moland continued to live in the home following her husband’s death and was residing in the home at the time of the Neshaminy Encampment when George Washington and the troops stayed on the property.

During the “13 days of August 1777” (August 10-23) meetings were held in the house in what is currently referred to as the “Council of War Room”. Attendees at those meetings would have included General Washington, Marquis de Lafayette, Alexander Hamilton, (Mad) Anthony Wayne, Nathanael Greene, Henry Knox and other notable individuals. Documentation is not available to indicate whether Washington stayed in the house or outside the house in his tent with the troops.

Along with the 1st Crossing Regiment we will have various interpreters of the period when General Washington and 11,000 troops encamped on the Neshamini Creek in the summer of 1777. At this point Penn’s Woods Puppet Theater, colonial cooking, a lacemaker, a colonial gunsmith, woodworkers and a colonial brewer, among others will be at the Moland House for this Warwick Township Historical Society Event.
