You never know what to expect when taking enlarged images directly into the sun. There's always an element of luck.
Took this image at 8.15pm this evening from the front of my home facing due West towards the village of Trofarth as the sun was rapidly dipping below the horizon. Within five minutes it had disappeared.
I used a Tamron 28-300mm lens at 300mm with Ultra Violet and Polarizing Filters, using a Canon EOS 1200D with settings: F8, ISO 250 and 1/400sec exposure.
Quite a spectacle! Try enlarging for a closer look too.
It's 21.46pm and the sun is just setting. This was the 'Spectacular' view due East from the rear of my home. Although it's still raining in our village there's a break in the cloud, at the front, due West on the distant horizon before the sun dips below.
Image details....taken with a Canon EOS 1200D, Tokina 11-16mm lens. Shutter speed 1/50sec, ISO 100, F 3.5 with an exposure compensation of minus one third.
12 days after my earlier post of 29.4.2021, sees the sun setting one half hour later at 21.00pm.
Took this shot of last night's 'Vibrant Sky' at 21.15pm, just after the sun had dipped below the horizon, from the front of my home in the village of Betws yn Rhos, Conwy, North Wales looking West towards the hamlet of Cefin Isaf.
I used a Canon EOS 1200D camera with a Tokina 11-16mm wide angle lens set at 16mm, F5.6, ISO 100 and 1/40second exposure.
Now, we're in a warmer South Westerly Airflow - with blustery winds and intermittent squally rain - but still resulting in such colourful sunsets.
Compositionally, luckily I was able to use the rapidly moving Cumulus Clouds(to the left and bottom) contrasting with the Alto Cumulus Clouds (above and to the right) to good effect not only as an encircling frame but also to further diffuse the sun's brightness.
An owl that is traditionally describe as wise, perhaps because of its human-looking face, fixed gaze as if it were considering something carefully.

and it's even shorter if the insect flies directly into a seagull's mouth...
I mean, with all the space you have for flying...
Have a nice weekend everybody :)
This was the scene at 16.30pm on Sunday 10th January 2021 looking due West, from the front of my home, towards Troforth after the sun had much earlier dipped below the hillside.

Canon EOS 1200D
TAMRON 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5 Di II B001
ƒ/22 - 10.0 mm - 0,3 S - ISO 100 - Flash off.
Took this in January 2015, reviewed it at the time and dismissed all of the images. Found it again on a USB drive today so had a little play around with it. I've lightened the area around the ship, cropped/straightened it. Any tips/positive criticism welcome.
Apologies for the grainy picture quality - but I was outside hiding behind the rear corner wall of our bungalow - so as not to disturb our visitor! Simply had to take and share the shot!
I used a Tamron 28-300mm lens at 300mm to take the shot. Camera settings on my Canon EOS 1200D were ISO 3200, F 6.3 and Exposure 1/30sec.
It's 20.15pm - twenty five minutes after sunset. We've had heavy rain and thunderstorms since Mid Afternoon.
Just looked outside to see if the rain had stopped and I spotted this somewhat dishevelled Tawny Owl (Strix aluco) perched on a ridge tile adjacent to the Solar Panels on our bungalow's rear roof.
We've heard owls in the trees bordering the adjacent field to the rear of our bungalow but it's the first time one's visited in daylight.
We do here them much closer at night and it's quite feasible this or other owls may roost/visit overnight too.
