I enjoyed some night shooting around the Ballard docks over the weekend. When I was in high school I used to shoot at night a lot. I haven't done much night photography in the past 5 years and it felt great to be out there. The act of calculating exposures and shooting with a tripod / shutter release cable is a unique meditative experience that is quite enjoyable.

I used some advanced exposure calculating tricks that I read about on the internet and all of the shots ended up being exposed fairly well. I made the exposures at F/8 and 1/15 of a second on up to about 4 minutes. Although I had a fun time, I'm still working on finding the right subject and instead of just enjoying the process.

After a couple of 102º afternoons here in Phoenix, it feels really refreshing looking at some photos of snow. It seems like such a distant memory thinking back to the days I spent freezing my ass off at Bryce Canyon this past November. DAMN it was COLD!!!

After two days of solid gray skies and blizzard like conditions, this was my first glimpse of actual sunlight. Sunrise on morning #3. The snow was done... And, my toes were frozen.

Here is another from my visit to Secret Canyon this week. I have visited several of these slot canyons now, up near Page, and this is quite possibly my favorite one. It's right on par with Upper Antelope Canyon, but without any people. Absolutely FANTASTIC place!

Two years ago, I had tried and when the seconds showed 11:11 and 10 I clicked and it showed 12 seconds because my camera is the less expensive I could find.

Last year, I forgot to take at 11:11 am, so I waited till late at night.

I was so tired that day for working in the garden that at 11:00 pm I laid down to wait for another 11 minutes and I woke up at 12:00 pm. in the middle of the night. I was so upset.

Finally, this year I got it, but it came out with a shade from the windows I think.

Jaarlijks in april opent de Keukenhof in Lisse de deuren voor de fraaie bloemenzee in het daarvoor aangelegde park. Dit trekt niet alleen bezoekers uit eigen land, maar ook uit het buitenland.

Een deel van deze bezoekers kwam in de jaren '90 met speciale 'bebloemingstreinen'. In 1995 viel er helaas maar één te verwelkomen. Op Koninginnedag kwam deze trein uit Luxemburg met rijtuigen van de CFL.

Op de foto is tr. 18402 onder aanvoering van loc 1111 (ook wel de 'paaltjesloc' genoemd) op de terugweg van Lisse naar Luxemburg. De foto kwam tot stand bij de Kilweg in Dordrecht, dat toen nog een gelijkvloerse kruising met het spoor had.

I noticed the time when I was at the Cambrian Park Shopping Center in San Jose,CA. I randomly looked up in the direction of this sign not having any need to know what time it was... but (11:11) happens time and time again.

While leaning over the ice, realizing that it is still very thin, clutching the mound of grass and snow that was literally land's end for me, this zigzag of broken grass embedded in the ice caught my eye. I could not frame it horizontally or vertically as there were interruptions and distractions in the form of other grassy debris, but I could see clearly that the essential image would fit nicely into a square frame crop. Which I did later, in Photoshop. Frenchman River, Grasslands National Park, Saskatchewan.
