COMBAT OUTPOST SHIR GHAZAY, Helmand province, Afghanistan -- A tank with Alpha Company, 2nd Tank Battalion, sits beside another tank during an overwatch mission. Tankers regularly perform these missions for their fellow Marines and other coalition forces. An overwatch mission consists of providing security for ground forces improving roads, constructing needed facilities or any other development projects to build a better future for Afghanistan.

Coast Guard MSU Port Arthur was selected to receive the National Defense Transportation Association Military Unit Award, Sept. 12, 2011 in Phoenix, Ariz. for their protection of a strategic and nationally significant petrochemical port complex that includes two Strategic Ports of Embarkation, two liquefied natural gas facilities and two of the nation’s five Strategic Petroleum Reserves.

Daniel Royal and a recovered body back to the ship during a man overboard recovery drill on board the forward-deployed amphibious dock landing ship USS Germantown (LSD 42). Germantown, commanded by Cmdr. Carol McKenzie, is currently on patrol in the western Pacific after completing Talisman Sabre 2011, a bilateral command post and field training exercise designed to maintain a high level of interoperability between U.S. and Australian forces. Jake Davis the 18 year old hacktivist known as Topiary and Gardenslayer has been arrested by UK police in the isolated Scotland Shetland Islands as a core leader of the hacktivist group Lulz Security (LulzSec). LulzSec are an important sub-group of ‘Anonymous Operations’ in their support for WikLeaks and maintaining internet freedom, and behind various attacks online over a 50 day hacking spree which included government websites throughout the middle east, FBI, CIA, Paypal, Visa, Mastercard, Sony etc. Davis ran the popular LulzSec twitter feed that described himself ‘Topiary’ as a “simple prankster turned swank garden hedge”. The twitter site has been sweeped clean of its feed with only one remaining “You cannot arrest an idea”. 她說她曾在豆瓣網上發表一篇名為"誰忍心責怪一個嫁錯男人的家暴婦女",她相當小心(其實是刻意)地用字,避免任何執行"河蟹"的人使用關鍵字搜尋就能隨即刪除她的文章,讓全文看起來只是一篇探討男女關係的普通文章。隨即一堆人跟帖,並多以一些政治事件或口吻回應她的文章。不出幾個小時,她的文章和跟帖就消失在網站上了。
她笑說:我懷疑站長暗戀我,老是察看我在網路上的發言!
我隨口回說:好在你是文章消失,不是人莫名其妙地消失!
我相當喜歡她以動粗用刑的男人和家暴婦女比喻大陸國家與人民的關係,很絕妙。不過我一直認為如果以為自身在絕對自由的國度,而奮力批判大陸的獨裁專制,會比被家暴的婦女更昏昧,因為那只是設想他人處在地獄,以對照自身在天堂。當新聞報導取向越來越地方化和綜藝化時,人的視野並不會比被管制的區域大多少。
