Dun Laoghaire has changed a lot since I took these photographs and there are many changes on the way especially along George’s Street.
I was employed by Ericsson and based in Dun Laoghaire at the Adelphi Centre from 2001 to 2010 and I really liked the town even though the place was going through a period of urban decline and depression.
When I was there we were based in George’s Street which was going down hill at a rapid pace and the company decision to move from the town must have had a huge impact on the town and especially on the restaurants on the main street.
Before I joined Ericsson I worked for two different companies with offices at Haigh Terrace which became a no-go area at night because of anti-social behaviour related to drug-dealing. Because of the new library complex and the removal of the pond in Moran Park the anti-social problem in the immediate area is no longer an issue even if some locals dislike the library building.
According to a recent report Georges Street is too long as a main street in order to support viable retailing. Therefore, it is proposed that the street be demarcated into distinct quarters: an Interiors Quarter on Lower Georges Street from Cumberland Street to St Michael’s Hospital; the Core Retail Quarter from Bloomfields Shopping Centre to Haigh Terrace; the Commercial & Residential Quarter from Haigh Terrace to Adelphi House; and the Artesian Quarter on Upper Georges Street from Mellifont Avenue to the People’s Park.
Several interventions at street level are required to change the appearance of each quarter and communicate a distinct proposition for each quarter to shoppers and visitors. These interventions will range from the establishment of new town squares; to the creative use of paving, seating, flowerbeds and lighting; to the introduction of new canopies and shading; to the erection of new sculpted features and signage.
It is envisaged that as the development of the retail quarters gain momentum, the demand for retail space will increase. The new mechanisms such as the Property Forum and Retail Forum will be vehicles to focus new retail businesses into clusters for example food and fashion specialty shops in the Artesian Quarter.

- From that time over #10YearsAgo I went to a classical Indian dance performance. This is one of the dancers doing a pose with both hand doing some kind of gestures.
- Apparently, there is an offshore wind farm outside Whitstable seaside, here seen with a boat over #10YearsAgo.
- From that time I saw this glass craftsman over #10YearsAgo. It was fascinating to see him working with the flame.
Place Henri Mondor, Blvd. St Germain. This is John, he's our best friend. We had so much fun on this trip, our best visit to Europe, May 2001.From my journal: "Mon 21 V 01-- we leave Normandy...We ultimately get to Hotel Fleuris and get all checked in. Wonderful room. Friendly staff-- Catherine works downstairs and is interested in speaking w us. The next goal is to go find Zimmer-- and we learned from calling the magic American Airlines # that was a bit late. So we went over to Danton to wait, as he is ultimately supposed to come out of the Odeon metro stop, right in front of us. Several beers, and some excellent people-watching. Zimmer appeared out of nowhere- he found us, not the other way around. Zimmer was in good form, despite the flight."

- Seen over #10YearsAgo in central Uppsala in Sweden. Uppsala is a university city in Sweden with many bikes on the roads.
This is from an underwater disposable camera I had for my (I think) 14th birthday. 10 years ago in a few weeks! Crazy.
- These sheep photos were actually taken more than #10YearsAgo in the Yorkshire Sculpture park. Here is a sheep posing with some abstract sculptures of hay bales.
- Old scene over #10YearsAgo of a corner off-licence shop along Grays Inn Road. I wonder if it looks the same over there nowadays a decade later.
- From a road trip along the coast of Northern France in Brittany over #10YearsAgo and at that time, I was trying to get seagull photos at every angle closeup. This is from below with sunlight behind the feathers.
- Here is another interesting wall feature of the Stockholm city hall interior, A vaulted ceiling with a dove in the middle, as seen in a visit #10YearsAgo. This is apparently maybe called the Vault of the Hundred.
- Seen from an old France road trip over #10YearsAgo at a Normandy beach. At this stretch of beach, we saw some people run horse chariots in the water. Here is a horse chariot with a beach crowd in the background.
- From an old France trip over #10YearsAgo in Paris and one of the visits to Le Centre Pompidou. There are some funky lighted areas in the museum and this visitor wondered into my shot.

I've always always wanted to do a picture-within-a-picture thing. So here's a shot from 10 years ago, of my friend Sasha. Back when that tree had four big branches. Its harder to align than i thought, I didnt do a great job.
