Monday, June 19, 2006. (ATLANTA, GA) Members of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN), Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), Rainbow Push Coalition, Fraud Awareness Committee (FAC) embark on a symbolic march down Peachtree Street and Rally in Woodruff Park to protest the Predatory Lending and Mortgage Fraud epidemic in Georgia.

The group gathered in Woodruff Park, in the heart of Atlanta’s financial, entertainment and academic districts, to take part in a Juneteenth demonstration to celebrate the 140th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation. Local media covered the event where Courtney Dillard, Dexter Wimbish, Reverend Frederick Douglass Taylor, Joe Beasley, Deacon Dana Williams and Michael McCray.

They ended the rally with Courtney Dillard leading a march back up Peachtree Street to symbolically take back the Winecoff Hotel. Courtney Dillard led protestors past the International Peace Fountain, and formed a human-chain around the Historic Winecoff Hotel––to the shock and dismay of the construction site foreman and dozens of confused construction workers at the work site.
