The Airline History Museum, at the old downtown Kansas City, MO airport, bought this old beauty that used to fly for TWA in the early-mid 70's. It flew on its last flight yesterday, January 30th, 2010 from Roswell, New Mexico to Kansas City, MO. I was lucky enough to have flown on an L-1011 in the early 1970's - it's a thing of beauty on the inside. A wide-body...2 aisles, seats in the middle, 2 levels. They don't make them like this anymore....it was saved from being "destroyed" for parts. Rolls Royce made the engines.
CEFX 1011 (AC4400CW) sits in Monroe, GA outside of PowerRail Locomotive Services. Sitting with CEFX 1007, 1011, 1016, 1017, 1018, 1019, 1020, 1023, 1024 and 1014 sitting in the facility. It was extremely hard to get a good shot without a blown out sky, I even went back on a second date with no luck.

Ex Melbourne & Metropolitan Tramways Board 'W' class tram number 1011 is seen in the grounds at Luna Park amusement centre in the Melbourne suburb of St. Kilda, several hundred metres from St. Kilda Beach.
W7-1011 was built in the 1950's and upon withdrawal from service, was stored for a period of time before being placed in Luna Park.
It now provides a venue for children and their parents to have functions and parties.
This picture was taken in May, 2008 during a weekend away for our first wedding anniversary.

Metrolink Ansaldo Breda T68 tram 1011 is one of the inital batch of 26 Firema trams (numbered 1001-26) that were built for the opening of the system in the early 1990s and is pictured in Mossley Street, Manchester whilst working an Altrincham - Piccadilly service.
In 1999 a further six trams of the same Firema class were buit to operate on te extension to Eccles but these were slightly different (type T68-A, numbered 2001-6), having covered bogies and retractable couplers as an extra safety measure due to the increased amount of on street running being operated. As well as the six new trams built for the Eccles line, three of the original batch (1005/10/5) were modified with the extra safety features of the T68-A.
An expansion programme is now underway which see the size of the system increased and a further 48 trams (3001-48) on order, some of which are already in service, which in turn has allowed more of the T68s to be upgraded to the T68-A standard, this car being one of those treated as can be seen in this picture, though it will be noted that the covers on the couplings on these are slightly different to those on 1005/10/5 & 2001-6.
Double-ended PCC 1011 approaches the Brannan Street station on an E line run to Fisherman's Wharf. In an exercise of "what might have been," the 1011 is painted in the green and white of the Market Street Railway Company, which despite their interest never had the funds to purchase PCCs before being absorbed by Muni. The 1011 itself has been in San Francisco since 1948, working in regular Muni service until 1982.
