Perhaps some of the rarest 'fallen flag' miles on the Union Pacific today belongs to the Mina Branch and the 12 miles that can trace its history to the narrow gauge Carson and Colorado Railroad, first laid in 1880.
The Southern Pacific acquired the C&C in 1900 and broadened the narrow gauge to standard gauge between Churchill and Mina in 1907, a distance of nearly 100 miles (with dual gauge another 9 miles to Tonopah Jct.). A new standard gauge connection to the Overland Route at Hazen connected the eSPee to its C&C at Churchill by 1905.
Over the years the C&C was abandoned in stages, first to go was the narrow gauge, all was gone by 1960. Next was the standard gauge between Mina and the US Army base at Thorne in 1987. In the early 1990s eSPee sold the branch between Wabuska and Thorne to the US Army. By 1996 when the eSPee was merged into the Union Pacific, the UP gained ownership of roughly 12 miles of the old C&C between Churchill and Wabuska, which they still operate to this day.
Having spotted and pulled at its namesake, the 'Buska' is westbound through Churchill Canyon with 5 empty feed hoppers in tow. The two GPs are fittingly both ex-eSPee machines, GP60 1003 (ex-SP 9782) and GP40-2 1420 (ex-SP 7669). The Buska will pick up the rest of its train at Appian (near Silver Springs, NV) before it makes a run for home.

SLHA and A-Train4014 Productions hosted a Soo Line 1003 photo charter on October 26, 2025, operating on WSOR lines northwest of Milwaukee. With perfect weather and well-executed runbys, the day delivered spectacular visuals, and more smoke than I've seen from a steam locomotive.

Z powodu modernizacji linii średnicowej w Warszawie oraz przywrócenia ruchu pasażerskiego na stacji Warszawa Główna, miejsce to zmieniło się nie do poznania. Panoramę Warszawy częściowo przysłania kładka dla pieszych łącząca Ochotę z Wolą. W miejscu, w którym znajduje się skład powstaje posterunek odgałęźny, który w przyszłości umożliwi przejazd z toru 1 układu dalekobieżnego na układ podmiejski.
