Fr. Louis’ treatment of the little-known figure of Guigo the Carthusian is particularly intriguing and revealing. Here is someone dedicated to the solitary life, a life for which Merton himself had a great longing and desire. He writes: “To love solitude is to love truth, for in solitude one is compelled to grapple with illusion. The solitary life is a battle with subjectivity in which victory is to be gained not by the subject, but by Truth” (158). And isn’t this the desire and often desperate search of every human heart?

This is an out take from some work he was helping me with on my next conceptual series of images I am assembling. I really like how the light was falling on his hair and making it shimmer when I snapped this shot. He has such a nice face and I wish he wouldn't hide behind the hair so much but, in this case, it really worked for me as the photog; as opposed to me the dad.
Escapar de tus besos de espiral. De las guillotinas de tus pestañas. Escapar del bosque que conforman tus lunares en la parte alta de tu espalda. Escapar de los 127 pensamientos que te dedico al día, de tu sonrisa número 56 y de tu séptima caricia. Escapar de los 8km que a veces separan tu piel de la mía, de los 33 escalones que tengo que subir para respirar tu mismo aire. Escapar de esta rutina en la que tú no eres el protagonista. Escapar de esta "yo" que sólo piensa en un "tú" que no existe. Escapar de esta cadena que deletrea tu nombre a golpes de latido.
