Fr. Louis’ treatment of the little-known figure of Guigo the Carthusian is particularly intriguing and revealing. Here is someone dedicated to the solitary life, a life for which Merton himself had a great longing and desire. He writes: “To love solitude is to love truth, for in solitude one is compelled to grapple with illusion. The solitary life is a battle with subjectivity in which victory is to be gained not by the subject, but by Truth” (158). And isn’t this the desire and often desperate search of every human heart?

Anna (Tammy) is coming home from a day of shopping. It is a beautiful snowy day and she is dressed in her warmest coat and hat. She just loves the snow covered trees and wearing her winter fashions.

I got this coat and purse in a handmade lot about a year ago. I made the hat from a sock. Isn't the coat chic on her? I just love it.
It is so cold today that the salt will not work to melt the ice. As I was taking these photos, a delivery truck (that just brought my new boots) just slid backwards down the hill on the side of my house. Expecting 12 inches and bitter cold in the next few days.
This is an out take from some work he was helping me with on my next conceptual series of images I am assembling. I really like how the light was falling on his hair and making it shimmer when I snapped this shot. He has such a nice face and I wish he wouldn't hide behind the hair so much but, in this case, it really worked for me as the photog; as opposed to me the dad.
Gwen is enjoying a lazy Sunday on her porch. She has her book, cup of coffee, and her little friend. A great way to relax!

Did this pic ages ago but have been lazy and haven’t uploaded it to flickr. Plus, I wanted to make sure it was just right before sending it in. Spent years on this thing I swear, hopefully it pays off since I have had a serious editing block for these past few weeks (like bottom two/ three in every contest I have been in) so yeah, I’m just hoping to get through this week. My original aim was for 10th to 15th callout, but looking at the pictures I’d be shocked just to get through.
