Donnerstag maritim – Seit einigen Wochen wieder an der Pier des großen Kranherstellers Liebherr im Rostocker Seehafen – die „ORION 1“. Das gut 217 Meter lange Offshore-Installationsschiff gilt als der weltweit stärkste Schwimmkran. Die „ORION 1“ wurde 2019 in China gebaut und soll zum Aufbau aber auch zum Rückbau von Offshore-Windkraftanlagen eingesetzt werden. Zur Besatzung gehören ca. 130 Personen.
Am 02.05.2020 kam es bei einem Belastungstest zu einem folgenschweren Unfall bei dem 12 Personen verletzt wurden und der Schaden geht in eine Höhe von bis 100 Millionen Euro. Ein von einem externen Lieferanten gelieferter Kranhaken sollte eine Belastung von bis zu 5.000 Tonnen standhalten – dieser brach allerdings bei einem Belastungstest bei 2.600 Tonnen Last. Der Kranausleger knickte bei der plötzlich abreißenden Last nach hinten über – sein oberer Teil schlug auf das Schiff sowie auf die Kaikante auf. Nach einer Reparatur des Schiffes in einer polnischen Werft wurde jetzt ein neuer Kran installiert und soll in naher Zeit erneut getestet werden – aber dann auf hoher See.
