DESCRIPTION:
On 16 February , at about 17:00, there was a short but violent eruption of volcano Etna. The eruption begun with an explosion followed by a massive lava fountains rising from the South-Est crater, one of the summit craters. This phase lasted just under two hours, then quickly the phenomenon decreased in intensity and after few hours the volcano went back to sleep. The picture shows the South Est crater at a time when the paroxysmal phase is over, but the lava keeps to coming out from the cracks of the crater created by the explosion . The incandescent fumes that partially cover the crater , come from the Central crater and from the other summit craters.

Op 1 April 2022 kon ik Ter hoogte van Meteren trein 822 vastleggen met de treinstellen 9520 en de 9516 richting Alkmaar in een mooie besneeuwde Nederlands landschap !
Koning Winter kwam toch nog effe een paar daggen op bezoek in Nederland !
Historical country house also to be opened to the public
As of 1 September, the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam will be using the historical country house, Trompenburg, as an extra location. Trompenburg, which is close to Hilversum, was built after 1677 by Admiral Cornelis Tromp (1621-1691), the son of the legendary Admiral Maarten Harpertsz Tromp. The residence, that was built to resemble a ship, will be open for use by the Rijksmuseum from 1 April to 1 October for holding lectures, small conferences and small-scale exhibitions. In addition, Trompenburg will also be opened to the public a few times each year.
A monument for the Tromp family
Throughout the years, Trompenburg House has been a home to different families, and has been in the care of the Government Buildings Agency as a monument since 1938. Cornelis Tromp, who was the commander-in-chief of the Dutch and Danish fleet, built Trompenburg as a monument for himself and his ancestors, his father in particular. The Tromp family's glory is the theme of the dome hall - which can be seen as the maritime answer to the Oranjezaal, the central chamber in Huis ten Bosch Palace. The dome hall contains the portraits of father and son Tromp and both their wives, portraits of the ships and the naval battles.
Decoration and exhibitions
Trompenburg will not be used for large exhibitions, as the country residence is too small. However, the Rijksmuseum is considering whether the house could be decorated with art works on a limited scale. Where possible, any art work that is selected will be in keeping with the themes of life on a 17th Century country estate and the maritime history of the period of 1630 and 1690.
Due to the limited capacity of Trompenburg House, the exhibitions as well as the lectures and conferences will all be small-scale. The house will be opened to the public once a month during the April-October season (six times in total). A steward will reside at Trompenburg House.
Die 143 020 der SRS brachte am 01. April 2022 Sonderzug 1799 mit Ukrainischen Flüchtlingen von Frankfurt (Oder) nach Hannover Messe/Laatzen. Im Bild fährt die Lok mit ihrem Zug durch Golm um über Magdeburg nach Hannover zu fahren.
De SRS 143 020 reed op 1 april 2022 met extra trein DPF 1799 met vluchtelingen uit de Oekraine van Frankfurt (Oder) naar Hannover Messe/Laatzen. Op de foto rijdt de trein door Golm en zal via Magdeburg naar Hannover rijden.
SRS engine 143 020 was tasked with hauling special train DPF 1799 with Ukranian refugees from Frankfurt (Oder) to Hannover Messe/Laatzen on March 21st 2022. The train is seen here in Golm (just west of Berlin) on its way to Hannover.
Op 1 april 2013 begon het rij-seizoen weer voor het Rijssens leemspoor. Op deze dag werd ook de 100 jarige verjaardag gevierd van de locomotief 3 "Maaike". Als cadeau heeft de locomotief een revisie gekregen en mocht op deze dag zijn eerste rit met reizigers maken. Hier is de SRL 3 onderweg vanaf het depot aan de Markeloseweg naar het eindpunt aan de Arend Baanstraat en komt net binnen op het stationnetje midden op de lijn ten hoogte van de Burgemeester Knottenbeltlaan.

On the first of April 2013 the Rijssens Leemspoor (tracks to transport loam), celebrated the new driving season a the 100th birthday of the steam engine SRL 3 "Maaike". The train was driving from the depot next to the Markeloseweg nto the final destination at the Arend Baanstraat and is arriving at the station in the middle near the Burgemeester Knottenbeltlaan.
Squint your eyes and glance just so, and it just might appear as if this were the mid-20th-century. But not!

Door de enorme toestroom van vluchtelingen uit Oekraïne reden er in April 2022 bijna dagelijks meerdere extra treinen vanuit Frankfurt a/d Oder naar Hannover Messe Laatzen om de vluchtingen verder in Duitsland te brengen. Op 1 april 2022 was de pas geschilderde 143 020 van SalzlandRailService met een sleep rijtuigen van RDC bij Berkenbrück onderweg naar Hannover en passeert daar de Retrack 186 537 met een LKW Walter shuttle uit het Poolse Rzepin.
Op 1 april mocht de 3031 van het NSM een rondje door Nederland maken, met als bestemming Blerick. Na het gedane werk zou er volgens planning rond 16:05 weer uit Blerick vertrokken moeten worden, wat uiteindelijk 16:29 werd. Na een kwartier wachten passeerde de mP rond kwart voor 5 Deurne, om zijn weg op volle snelheid te vervolgen naar Utrecht Maliebaan. Op de voorgrond is ook nog een klein beetje sneeuw te zien, wat nog over was van de onverwachte sneeuwval van die ochtend!
Op zaterdag 1 april was het weer niet al te best. Nergens was de zon te bekennen en het regende zo goed als de hele dag. 's Ochtends was ik nog even langs de Eempolder gegaan om daar de 9901 van RXP op de foto te zetten, die onderweg was naar IGSO naar Amsterdam. Hierna had ik geen idee wat ik wilde doen, maar sinds kort was de 193 949 van RFO bestickerd in de welbekende sharky kleuren.
Toen 's ochtends de melding kwam dat de nieuwe sharky van RFO voor de Gekkengraaf shuttle reed, wilde ik ondanks het slechte weer wel een poging wagen. Toch werd er eerst gekozen om naar Rotterdam te gaan, en deze trein achter wegen te laten. Onderweg naar Rotterdam kwam de melding dat er een aanrijding was bij Gilze-Rijen waardoor en veel goederen werden omgeleid via Eindhoven, Utrecht, Gouda, Rotterdam, en zo verder naar de havens.
Hierdoor werd de Gekkengraaf shuttle van RFO met de nieuwe sharky wel weer een mogelijkheid. Eerst bij Rotterdam nog de omgeleide Neuss-shuttle van Medway geklikt, en daarna zette ik de koers richting huis. Qua tijd zou het precies goed gaan als ik op Gouda uitstap, dan zou RFO 3 minuutjes later door moeten komen.
En dat was ook zo! Het is 16:22 als de sharky in zicht komt en station Gouda passeert met Gekkengraaf shuttle 63122 onderweg naar Maasvlakte West. Gelukkig was de eerste helft van de trein (fraai) beladen, de achterste helft was leeg... Ondanks het slechte weer kon ik met een tevreden plaatje naar huis!
Op 1 april 2020 worden de drie laatste bij DB Cargo in dienst zijnde locs serie 1600 terzijde gesteld. Om dit niet ongemerkt voorbij te laten gaan worden/zijn de drie overgebleven locs, de 1611, 1615 en 1616 elk voorzien van een afscheidstekst op de zijkanten Op 15 maart 2020 mocht de zeer schone 1616 de zondagse staaltrein 47613 vanuit Beverwijk naar Sittard brengen en passeert hier in de bocht tussen St. Joost en Echt. Op de zijkant is de tekst 'Elke dag wat dichterbij, na 39 jaar trouwe dienst is het dan voorbij.’ aangebracht. Aan de andere zijde van de loc is een andere tekst aangebracht: 'DB Cargo neemt afscheid van de locomotiefserie 1600.'

Well the first quarter of the year of the 365 is behind us and we are now entering the second quarter.
The water on the creek is now starting to open up more. This body of water will eventually lead into the Mississippi River coming out at Carleton Place Ontario and then eventually flows into the Ottawa River.
I appreciate each and every visit, comment and fave here on my little corner of the world as seen through my lens.

1 April 2025 - Looking like a toy train, an antediluvian Malaxa railcar is approaching Neptun, on the Romanian Black Sea coast. This is the Train R8389 Constanța – Mangalia. Built in 1940-1954, these railcars are still in service during the low season on the cost line south of Constanța in the direction of Bulgaria. This is probably the last service in Romania of these class 78 4-axle railcars, and perhaps the last year that they are in regular revenue service.

Hong Kong West Kowloon station (abbreviated WEK) is the southern terminus of and the only station on the Hong Kong section of the Guangshengang XRL. The station connects to China's high-speed rail (HSR) network across the border through dedicated tunnels and includes a Mainland Port Area where the laws of (Mainland) China are enforced. It was constructed by the MTR Corporation Limited as the project manager commissioned by the Hong Kong Government, through subcontractors.
The station terminal is located in Jordan, Kowloon Peninsula, north of the West Kowloon Cultural District between the Airport Express and Tung Chung line's Kowloon station and the Tuen Ma line's Austin station. The footprint of the new station extends into the underground level of the West Kowloon Cultural District.
The station closed between 30 January 2020 and 15 January 2023 due to the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions. Limited services resumed on 15 January 2023, with full services resumed on 1 April 2023.

The bus dropped us off down in the valley there (Wadi Zin) at the entrance to the site, where Highway 40 runs on its way from Be'er Sheva to Eilat. We were the only visitors at the site.

I was talking with Lucia on the phone (yeah hips tomorrow) and I really thought this spider was a toy of my kids (we have them in diffrent kinds) so I picked it up, with my hands:( And the spider has his or her ! april joke.... I came across a pile of these when wandering through Swanscombe Peninsula, close to the road that separates Manor Way Business Park from the wilds (well..) of the Peninsula..
These are - it says on t'internet - made from heavy duty recycled rubber and are used in traffic management systems, a bit like super heavy lego in that you can construct barriers with them and they lock together. The ones I saw were red, like this, and white. I don't think you can eat them and you wouldn't put them on ice cream.

Pontocho (先斗町, Pontochō) is one of Kyoto's most atmospheric dining areas. It is a narrow alley running close to the Kamogawa River, on the other bank from the Gion district.
This Geiko (Kyoto dialect for Geisha) or Maiko (Geiko apprentices) was probably on her way to a client. She was walking one way, I, looking for a place to eat, the other. A quick grab-shot.
The Jacobite steam train crossing the 21 arch Glenfinnan viaduct during the Easter holidays. The viaduct crosses the river Finnan at a height of 100 feet. This is Scotland's longest concrete railway bridge at 416 yards. The single line track was opened on 1 April 1901. The viaduct has been used in a few TV series and films including Monarch of the Glen and the Harry Potter films. The structure overlooks Loch Shiel and the famous Glenfinnan monument, well worth a visit. took a wee video of the crossing, not sure if it would upload to flkr..
