Direct Rail Services Class 37/0s, 37069 + 37059 along with classmate 37218 (DIT) barrel through Hartford with 5Z68 13:30 Crewe Coal Sidings to Kingmoor Sidings and plenty of tones, much to the bemusement of the locals waiting for the Dullsiro to Liverpoolshire.
A couple of (much cleaner!) modified Mk2e BSOs were also in the consist, 9508 and 9506. These are typically used for armed police to ride in when escorting some of the more "interesting" nuclear freight DRS convey.
The 37s were as filthy as the weather, having been on RHTT duties in East Anglia. Rumours are mounting that DRS are looking to offload their 37s and will only "sell" to heritage or preservation buyers, but for now they seem to be one of (if not the only) option to work RHTTs on certain routes.

Look out, they're closing in on you now
Wake up, or you’ll wake up six feet down
Nobody's got your back in this town
Knock em in the teeth now
Out here there’s no negotiation
No room to start a conversation
Before you get a taste it’s taken
Never let ya guard down
Get back, put your hands up
Kinda messed up, but it’s tough luck
And I’m sorry, but I don’t feel bad for you
Cause I know if, you could switch this
You’d be dishin’ out the same shit
Sayin’ sorry, but I don’t feel bad
Now I know
There’s no one I can trust
I used to think there was
Tell me that I’m cut throat
I think you got your eyes closed
Feel the fear
And swallow back the tears
Let weakness disappear
There’s nobody but me here
The killer in the mirror
Killer in the, killer in the, killer in the mirror
Killer in the, killer in the, killer in the mirror
Where did, all of the good people go?
They hide, behind the bars on windows
In hopes, they can forget we’re close
Try'na get some of what they’ve got
'Cause I used to believe in justice
A place, where there was better judgment
But now, I’m feeling so disgusted
By the have its and the have nots
Get back, put your hands up
Kinda messed up, but it’s tough luck
And I’m sorry, but I don’t feel bad for you
Cause I know if, you could switch this
You’d be dishin’ out the same shit

Knock 'em in the teeth now
Never let ya guard down
Get some of what they’ve got
Have its and the have nots
Knock 'em in the teeth now
Never let ya guard down
When they step in your house
Knock, knock, knock 'em all the fuck out!
Now I know
There’s no one I can trust
I used to think there was
Tell me that I’m cut throat
I think you got your eyes closed
Feel the fear

North British K Class (LNER D34) 4-4-0s 62496 ''Glen Loy'' and 62471 ''Glen Falloch'' at Crianlarich Upper station, in May 1959. The locos had been specially cleaned - and embellished - and were hauling the normal BR passenger service between Glasgow and Fort William, for filming by the BBC for the 'Railway Roundabout' TV series. It is possible that the small group on the platform - including one person wearing 'plus-fours' - might be part of the production team..
There are two water columns on the platform, as many trains were double-headed, and it saved time when taking on water.
62471 was withdrawn in March 1960, and scrapped in July of that year. 62496 was withdrawn in November 1961, and scrapped in September 1962. One of the class has been preserved.
Today (2019) the station is just known as 'Crianlarich', and has lost the sidings and loco shed seen here on the right, and one of the water columns, and also the impressive lamp standard. There are still freight sidings to the left of the platform, which were used for timber traffic until 2009, and these may be used again at some future date.. Steam-hauled passenger specials still pass through here, in summer months..
These two locos have now been immortalised, on a Royal Mail first-class stamp..

Grimy ex-GCR Robinson 04 2-8-0s simmering at Langwith Junction loco shed, on a grey day in around 1964.. 63902 had entered service with the Great Central Railway in 1918, and was withdrawn in April 1965, and scrapped in May. One example has survived in the UK, but there are three in Australia..
The two others in the background have been rebuilt with a ‘standard’ LNER 100a boiler..
Langwith Junction shed closed to steam in 1966, but today (2025) part of the site is still in use, for the manufacture of railway wagons..
Restored from a grainy cyan-colour-shifted original..

Prismo - Stronger [NCS Release] - the soundtrack as I processed.
Snapped (let's be honest, it's not skillful) this a few weeks ago - doubt it'll win me any awards but I uploaded it anyway because it has personal meaning. I'm one of those strange sentimental souls. I've posted something similar a couple years ago.
Reason being, in this frame is the rented flat I call home, just under the left streetlamp. It's on St. Mary's Street, but this is the junction of Holyrood/Pleasance/Cowgate. For now, still my neighbourhood, still my local pub on the right hand side - Holyrood 9a. I had hired a lens for a wedding so ran out with it in order to capture this view - normally too wide for my 24mm. It's a ode to the tenement flat of Edinburgh. The lens has optical drawbacks and I think it shows in this image, but I don't care - it's home and that's what makes this image special for me.

West Midlands Trains Bombardier Aventra Class 730/0s 730004 and 730024 with the 5Q03 1152 Crewe to Nuneaton at Stafford on the 2nd May 2023.
A couple of 73/0s in deepest West Yorkshire, what could be more normal? Taking part in the KWVR diesel gala on June 18th 2005 were the then 'preserved' E6005 and E6006. The matching pair are pictured from above, not a drone or a pole, just a bridge!! at Haworth station as they head an Oxenhope service. This pair would get a new lease of life with GBRf as Caledonian Sleeper locos 73966 and 73967.

Test Pattern is a system that converts any type of data (text, sounds, photos and movies) into barcode patterns and binary patterns of 0s and 1s. Through its application, this project aims to examine the relationship between critical points of device performance and the threshold of human perception. From large-scale installations to live performances, the Test Pattern project has been derived from many different types of application since 2008, including a Compact Disc version and the more notable series of site-specific installations. This is the first publication related to the project.

The Mark V was announced on 24 August 1979. A large update on the Mark IV, it was really a step between a facelift and a rebody. The Mark V differentiated itself from the Mark IV by having revised headlights with larger turn indicators incorporated (which now showed to the side too), a wider slatted grille said to be more aerodynamically efficient, a flattened roof, more glass area, slimmer C-pillars with revised vent covers, larger, slatted tail lights (on saloon models) and upgraded trim.
Improvements were also made to the engine range, with slight improvements to both fuel economy and power output compared to the Mk.IV, Ford also claimed improved corrosion protection.
The estate models combined the Mk IV's bodyshell (which was initially from the 1970 Ford Taunus) with Mk V front body pressings.
Variants included the Base, L, GL, and Ghia (all available in saloon and estate forms), together with Base and L spec 2-door sedan versions (this bodystyle was available up to Ghia V6 level on overseas markets).
S package
The replacement for the previous Mark IV S models was an S package of optional extras, which was available as an upgrade on most Mark V models from L trim level upwards. For the final model year of 1982, this consisted of front and rear bumper overriders, sports driving lamps, an S badge on the boot, tachometer, four-spoke steering wheel, revised suspension settings, front gas shock absorbers, Sports gear-lever knob, Sports road wheels, and fishnet Recaro sports seats (optional). Various special editions were announced, including the Calypso and Carousel.
