In the normal way, First Great Western's services between Portsmouth Harbour and Cardiff Central do not pass through Eastleigh and are only routed through the railway town if there is engineering work on the line between Romsey and Southampton. In such circumstances, the trains run from Romsey to Eastleigh via Chandlers Ford and then on to Portsmouth via Hedge End, Botley and Fareham. This was due to happen during the weekend of 01/02/14 to 02/02/14. However, a landslip between Eastleigh and Fareham led to a further revision of the routing of FGW's Cardiff services. As such, the trains did not run to Portsmouth, but turned south at Eastleigh and ran to Southampton instead, where they were terminated. This allowed for a very rare opportunity to photograph the DMUs that work these services passing Campbell Road at Eastleigh, both northbound and southbound. Here 150120 and 158955 approach Eastleigh with the 1F12 0923 Portsmouth Harbour (starting at Southampton Central) to Cardiff Central service. 01/02/2014.
