Very early in the ninety-nineties, shortly after the collapse of the USSR, I was twice part of an international aid team that was assessing the need for medical material in western Ukraine. We visited hospitals, care homes, and orphanages in Lviv and the surrounding countryside. I still have vivid memories of the friendly and open people and how they enjoyed the new freedom, but also the poverty in the middle of Europe. The goodbye appeared sadder and more thoughtful than the welcome. What are these kids doing today?
I was able to take a few images, some of which I recently found and scanned.
I thought this would be easy but I soon realised that not all cheap coloured pencils are manufactured equally.

Mit einem hübschen Getreidezug war die CDC 383 009 hier bei Langenisarhofen unterwegs Richtung Passau.
The class MDa, later MDmot, were diesel-hydraulic baggage railcars of the Hungarian state railway Magyar Államvasutak (MÁV) for passenger train service on non-electrified main and branch lines. The vehicles were developed and delivered by Ganz-MÁVAG in Budapest from 1970 to 1976.

Im Block vor der 2043 rollte 383 009 mit Getreidezug aus Straubing Richtung Wels und konnte bei Haiding erwartet werden.
HECTORRAIL 162.009, Kenzingen (ligne Basel - Offenburg), 15 Juillet 2022.
Sous une lumière du soir, la 162.009 de l'opérateur HECTORRAIL approche de Kenzingen avec sa rame de citernes. Il s'agit en fait de l'ancienne 151 128 de la DB, retirée du service fin 2013, avant d'être rachetée et réactivée par l'opérateur Suédois HECTOR.
1216 009 brachte an diesem Tag NJ 421 im letzten Teilstück von München nach Innsbruck und konnte bei Niederaudorf abgelichtet werden.
Mit dem TXL Containerzug nach Kufstein/Wolfurt war die 192 009 bei Kirnstein im Inntal kurz bevor die Sonne hinter dem Berg verschwand zu sehen.
Day 9 and although I could take a lot more pictures here on this beach, I must go ahead with the initial plan and continue the random exploration. I will post an extra later today, before moving on
