About this shot
Swans in front of 'The Swan' (=Erasmus bridge) always nice!
The 'Inflatable Me' / 'Gullivers Travels' thing, is an idea I've been toying around with for quite some time for my new website. Still optimizing the technique. It's not easy to get light, shadows and water right (plus wet pants!), but I'm working on it! Hope you like the idea behind it. :-)
Very busy at the moment: Changing workflow from Photoshop CS5 to Lightroom 4 (final touch in CS5), setting up a webshop to sell my stuff plus busy creating a professional website. I really want to get things going, photography wise!
Enjoy your loooong weekend, and thx for dropping by!

There are two derivations of the name. One is that of the youth of Greek mythology called Narcissus, who, in at least one of many variations of the tale, became so obsessed with his own reflection as he knelt and gazed into a pool of water that he fell into the water and drowned. In some variations, he died of starvation and thirst from sitting by the edge of the pool, transfixed by his own reflection. In both versions, the Narcissus plant sprang from where he died.
The other derivation is that the plant is named after its narcotic properties (ναρκάω narkao, "I grow numb" in Greek). (Wikipedia)

I started off the month of April by walking to the border of Mexico. I was sent out to the grocery store ... and took a detour. I was standing on the border when I received a phone call. "Where are you mom? What is taking you so long!!" :-)
There weren't many folk about ... a few surfers, some dog-walkers, a lone fisherman ... and some horseback riders on the Mexican side of the shore. When I saw this beach umbrella, I couldn't resist!
Comparison photos of Lesser Scaup and Greater Scaup. The photo in the first comment box below shows a female Greater Scaup. Lesser Scaup has a more peaked crown with a noticeable corner of the crown above and behind the eye. Greater Scaup's head is more rounded. Greater Scaup also has a larger bill which flares out a bit towards the tip. Greater Scaup also shows pudgier cheeks if you can get a head-on view of the bird.

This is a passage to the train station where I live. I was heading for the train on my way to the city core when I heard these kids running and screaming behind me. I felt a picture coming and I grabbed my camera, crouched down and took this shot as they passed me...

Catching up with my fave spot of Toronto's mixed forest :-)
Captured quite a few interesting moments in this spot during February... but first wanted to share this dramatic "after sunset" scene I witnessed recently.

A different view of the same scene here.
Last week I rented a Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8 lens from Borrowlenses.com. This lens is truly a thing of beauty and awesomeness.
Funny story, actually. So, I rented the lens last week and headed to this very same spot to take some wideangle sunset shots. I spent a good hour on that windy ridge snapping away as my fingers got more and more numb. Anyway, I got some great shots that evening. Well, I thought I had gotten some great shots, but when I processed them they were covered in dust. Every single one. And I have no idea how all that dust got on my sensor. Anyway, yesterday I ran into Borrowlenses.com's San Carlos, CA location and had my sensor cleaned while I waited. Tonight I took the rented lens out for the last time (it goes back tomorrow) and took the shots I had wanted to take last week. And guess what? Tonight's sunset was ten times better than last week's...and dust-free to boot! How's that for luck? This lens is going on my wish list. It really is an amazing, amazing lens.

Continuing my Toy-ronto Life series...
Happy Miniature Sunday, Purple Hour edition yet again :-)
This is from the last Sunday, when I had a great roof-top photo-session during the snowy purple hour. Captured this purple magic in many of my fave places I tend to photograph from the roof-top, of course, Toy-ronto spots included :-) So do expect more of this long-exposure purple goodness in the near future :-)
More of toy-some tilt-shift fun is coming - stay tuned / bientot a l'ecran ;-)
Part of my Magic Purple Hour series.
Yesterday night went to photograph the street art in back alley ways of china town. This was the first shot I took handheld (with ISO 2000, f/8, 1/13sec) just to check the composition with wide angle, before setting up the tripod. After that I took around 15 shots. Interestingly this one I like the most!
Well, again uploaded two photos in one day and in reverse order!! this one is yesterday's shot! Was too sleepy when came back home to process and upload!
Day 116 of 365
Not the best conditions, it was raining and the sea was flat calm... apart from this little bit of swell in one place on the beach.
First time I've been to this bit of coast as a photographer, it's fantastic, I will be back !

My first ever star trail :))
Had a great time last night with Flickr buddy Rohit Ganda as we went out for our first ever star trail photoshoot!
It was a very difficult location by a lake here in Hyderabad, with a lot of rocks and slush and mud all around and without much lights it took us a long long time to find a right spot to catch the trails.
After nearly an hour of scouting around in the dark, we both managed to find a decent location. I stacked 10 shots here, each exposed to approximately 10 mins (600 seconds) so overall about 1hr 40 mins of exposure in here and am sure a little bit longer would've been better.
Being a sucker for the human element in the frame, on my last shot I went and climbed those rocks and stood there for about 3-4minutes after which I got dizzy and decided to sit down by the side so I did that for another 3-4 minutes. Thats how I got two of myself in the frame, which I'm not sure is particularly exciting but thats how it is.
Am not 100% satisfied with the overall outcome here but considering it was my first time, I will take this. Will certainly try for a better one next time.
A happy weekend to all my friend.

Badly needed a day out today after babysitting for 2 days in a row! Joined my friend in Rowerdennan, where the weather was kind to us. Here’s one of the shots I took using a wide angle.
I’m submitting this for the Recording Images group, which as the theme of “landscapes” for this week.
I have a bit of catching up to do, but hope you’re all having a great week so far!

This was a beautiful sunset at Cabo Rojo, in the Dominican Republic. The costline here is very impressive with it's textured cliffs, white sandy beaches and turquoise water.
I've been very busy lately, caught up with some obligations, I have not been able to visit your streams. I'll try to catch up with everyone as soon, as I can.
Hope everyone is doing great. Have a fantastic week ahead!

Back in October, I was gallivanting around the countryside when I happened across this restaurant called the Fishermen's Inn. I had planned on eating there someday so I was quite saddened to see that the doors were shuttered. I spent a few hours shooting there ... and I just realized that I had completely forgotten about that folder of images! A lot of really nice fall color in there. I think I'll dig them out when I get tired of winter!
I mention this because the photo above, of a snow-laden juniper branch, was photographed at the same location this past Saturday ... after our Friday snowstorm. I remembered the Fall shoot, and how much I loved the location ... remembered that bright red building ... all the wonderful ponds & fences ... and just knew that it would make a fine backdrop against the newly fallen snow. I wore my snow pants so I could frolic & wallow in the snow! It makes me laugh to think about someone trying to figure out what the heck was going on there by the tracks I left in the snow!!
And by the way? NO TRESPASSING signs are posted everywhere!!! Not a problem!
Seriously, this place is amazing ... and to see it closed is such a bummer. The entire 17-acre grounds, is decorated with nautical whimsy ... a striped lighthouse, a rowboat planted on its end in the grass, buoys, anchors and chains, gazebos, charming little arched bridges .... and really: a photographer's dream! I posted a few images in comments to give you a better sense of this beautiful place.

'Jacob Grimm wrote that by inscribing "aemaeth" upon the ancient Golem's brow, the clay man lived by drawing energy from the word for "truth". But simply removing the "ae" to form "maeth" or "death" returned the Golem back to inanimate clay.'
'Whereas NATO Golems turn to metal statues in death, spilling blood and oil onto the paving, right?'
'Right, though it takes a little more than harsh language. But the old AE Harpoons are perfect for that. The rocket doesn't penetrate that well-'
'snerk.'
'-but the ability to fire multiple shots overwhelms it with one clip. And Golem legs are under a lot of stress as it is.'
'And Golem jump packs are pretty flammable.'
'Got that right.'
So so much that has happened the last week. I want to say, thanks for all the attention I have gotten, it has been unreal for me!! And I am really sorry I cannot get out to everyone who has added me as contact! Thank you all! Dont hesitate with sending me a flickrmail if you have any questions or just want to talk.. :)
I have pushed away some of my fears.. I applied for jobs, and I even made a facebook page.. I appreciate so much if you like.. I have 17 likes now! haha :P

Tripod test: 45 second exposure with very strong wind after today's storm.
I was really lucky again - the blue sky came out for about 20 minutes - after that it began to hail...
I'm using the Haida 1000x ND filter. I had a B+W before, but it produced a strong red color cast and it cost 90€ with 77mm thread, compared to the 35€ i paid for the Haida, which produces far better colors.
