It is my almost 15 years since my move to BC and getting away from the cold weather of Montreal. This solitary bench and lamp post looks out amid the ice and snow onto the frozen Lake St. Louis. It shows the bleakness of winter in the West Island of Montreal. Photo was taken along the Lakeshore by Stuart Hall. However, despite the colder weather back East, I still miss the winter seasons there.

One shot...

Korestia is a historic region of Western Macedonia in Greece. It’s a cluster of mountain villages (Ano and Kato Kranionas, Halara, Ano and Kato Melas, Makrochori, Mavrokampos, Agios Antonios, Gavros) exhibiting strong architectural and cultural interest. The traditional architecture of the villages is great for the region of Western Macedonia. Old houses are constructed with handmade bricks with red clay and straw, giving a reddish color to the landscape. The construction of the houses was maintained until the mid-20th century and then abandoned.

Asian Lady Beetle / Asiatischer Marienkäfer (Harmonia axyridis)

on parsley / Petersilie in our garden - Frankfurt-Nordend

My last night in Amsterdam.

I wanted to take all colors, from every corner. I did not reach time. Now, I think I should have stayed all night without sleep. But I was tired and felt very cold. I hope to return to this beautiful city.

on a dull day. At a time, the sun came out.... what luck !!

The Rosenhöhe (Rose Heights) is a beautiful garden, which was previously a vineyard in the possession of the royal house. It was transformed into a landscaped garden in the English style at the beginning of the 19th century. The royal architect Georg Moller decorated the park with tea-houses and pavilions.

The mystical park serves also as the cemetery for the Duches of Darmstadt with two impressive mausoleum buildings in its remote parts.

Alone in a field of dreams

The Laugavegur is a famous trekking route in South-West Iceland from the hot springs area of Landmannalaugar to the glacial valley of Þórsmörk . It is noted for the wide variety of landscapes on its 55 km (34 mi) path. The route is typically completed over 2–4 days with potential stops at the mountain huts at Hrafntinnusker, Álftavatn, Hvanngil and Emstrur. An ultramarathon is held on the route each July. It is possible to combine the trek with the Fimmvörðuháls route which goes over the pass from Þórsmörk to Skógar for an additional one or two days or an additional 25 km (16 mi). Landmannalaugar, Þórsmörk, and Skógar are all reachable by bus during the summer. A bus from Hella connects with Álftavatn once a day during the summer.

in our garden - Frankfurt-Nordend

I get a deep sense of inner peace when I see a beautiful bird such as this roseate spoonbill feeding and preening in a glassy surfaced lagoon, bathed in early morning light.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Sunrise after a dusting of snow overnight - amazing to have a break in the clouds just as the rising sun hit the peaks of the mountains.

♂ Sympetrum fonscolombii in Autumn

**********************************************************

Aurora (Anthocharis cardamines) It is a piérid but which presents large orange spots on the fore wings, in the male at least. It is one of the very first to take off at the start of the year. Most of the piérides are of white color with more or less black spots, the aurora is characterized by the large orange spot which occupies all the half of the forewing in the male, this one having in addition a black external border . The female does not have this orange coloring. In both sexes, the underside of the wings is white with greenish spots. Aurora is one of the first butterflies seen flying in the spring. This butterfly is mainly found in wet meadows where meadowsweet grows (hence the name of the species). It also frequents wooded areas, forest edges, wasteland.
