October waved goodby with sunshine and warm tempereratures and we used the perfect weather for an extended hiking tour on the Wittedindsweg, a crest trail on the Wiehengebirge from Porta Westfalica in the East to the Osnabrück area in the West. Before the sun went down we visited the most interesting spots of the Eastern part of the trail.

The village of El Golfo and the greenish colored lake are a popular destination in the southwest of Lanzarote, here photographed by a not very ordinary location in the evening light (February-28, 2013)

A long exposure, landscape image of big waves flowing around the rocks near Bow Fiddle Rock in Morayshire, Scotland.
I keep getting drawn to this little island in Loch Assynt. The trees are all dead, maybe as a result of changing the Loch level, but I keep coming back to photograph it. This weekend, when I was in the area taking photos of stars I thought a starry sky might make a nice backdrop. I'm quite pleased with how it turned out!

A prosperous establishment of the early 1870's, with an elegant Mansard roof, small tower and iron grillwork. Sign of the growth associated with the construction of the Third Welland Canal (1871-1882). Its neighbour, 325 St. Paul St., is a well maintained example of the same period
The beautiful Swallowtail had stayed at an inflorescence of meadow sage and was still a bit wet from the dew . In the picture just the sun rises in the morning mist. I took advantage of the open aperture, achieving the sun as large as possible .

I'm back from the Merced National Wildlife Refuge. I took a great workshop with Donald Quintana: www.donaldquintana.com/wordpress1/
With its numerous coves, white sand beaches and crystal blue waters, the south coast of Sardinia is a very attractive place - an almost tropical paradise that would not look out of place in the Caribbean - minus the palm trees, of course :)
A view from the sunny banks of the river Temo, with Ponte Vecchio on the right, leading to the medieval historic centre of Bosa and the Malaspina Castle towering above.
From a geological standpoint, Iceland is a very young country, still in the midst of its own creation.
Looking through the collapsed roof of a cathedral sea cave onto a secluded beach, near Praia de Boião, Algarve, Portugal. The remains of the roof still litters the beach. The Algarve is famous for its beautiful coastline with spectacular cliff, stack and cave formations. The rocks glow beautifully when the sun is at a low angle. My vertigo was well and truly triggered looking through this rocky portal into the glorious secluded beach below. It won't be long before the narrow ledge I stood on will become part of the beach too!
"Look Into My Dreams, Awilda" is a 39 foot resin sculpture by Spanish artist Jaume Plensa presently on display in Chicago's Millennium Park. Ten years ago, Plensa created "Crown Fountain," one of the park's centerpiece attractions.
