Don't get me wrong, I love the rain - but the dark, gloomy weather makes me really struggle with taking new photos :/

I've always been partial to this unfiltered image from a bay in north part of Kyoto prefecture. I figured I'd share it here.
One of my pictures taken by the end of last winter during a moody afternoon of fast changing weather. I opted for increased contrast and darkening to express the mood of the place as I remember it.
The time of year when not all heather blooms are what they seem... A heather crab spider (Thomisus onustus) with bumblebee prey.
The jumbo artichokes slipped away from the supermarket in the dead of night, as the stockers were busy filling the shelves, and left the back door open. No one noticed their hasty getaway. Once morning came the alarm went out and a search began. The following day they were finally spotted, holed up in a remote, unused building.
So, they were apprehended, and are now back and available to buy in the produce section. The Produce Manager is keeping a watchful eye on the wayward artichokes.

Reales Alcázares de Sevilla (Royal Alcazars of Seville) is a royal palace in Seville, Spain, originally a Moorish fort. The name, meaning "The Courtyard of the Maidens", refers to the legend that the Moors demanded 100 virgins every year as tribute from Christian kingdoms in Iberia. The story of the tribute was used as a myth to bolster the Reconquista movement.

I used to joke around that the house was Rocco's and I just lived there. Turns out that was pretty on point.
2 feet....yep...most guys are preoccupied by the missing inches....sometimes you gotta look at the big picture and see that you ain't even got a foot to stand on...
Sassy and I went up to the Mt Rainer area for Valentines Day weekend to spend some "away time" together. We left the dogs, cell phones, TV and all the noise of Seattle behind, for two days and two nights in the area of Ashford, WA. We have a favorite little restaurant at the Copper Creek Inn that we go to for meals, so the whole time is devoted to R&R.
It rained most of the first day and night we were there. No problem, Sassy likes to play games on her laptop, and I usually open up a good book. The one I started while we were there, is a real page turner. I'm not quite done with it, so as soon as I'm done checking in here, I'm off to bed to escape into the pages of a very enjoyable exciting read. I can't wait to see how it's rapped up. It's a paperback I picked up at Costco, ... The Devil's Punchbowl by Greg Iles. A new author for me, but I'm hoping he has more to come.
It stopped raining a little on Sunday afternoon, so while Sassy was playing her games, I ventured out with my D300, Sigma10-20 on a tripod, into the woods not far from the cabin. The Mt Rainier area is so beautiful, as you can see, and I was there too.
Well .....I'm off to do some reading and hope to catch up on Flicker soon. So until then ....happy mid Feb. Spring's already here in Seattle WA!

149 seconds on the banks of Loch Achray, before sunrise on a very still and misty autumn morning.
Our landscape is changing so quickly now... Summer is just a faint memory.
Whilst autumn is a great time to be outdoors... there's only a few weeks left before we are plunged into the perpetual darkness of winter, and pretty soon I'll be back to being a weekend only photographer :-(
Time to make the most of it!
