An exmaple of not making the most of an obvious interest. Cinch Hook is a gravel pit on Coconino National Forest land at the intersection of highways 87 and 260.

For years it was a popular sledding area, the open bowl has an open slope. Due to fear of litigation, the Forest Service restricts access and has to devote staff to ticketing people who just park along the road.

They say it is too expensive to turn it into a recreation area.

Seems like something someone ought to be able to turn around into an opportunity.

Part of the inscription at the Thiepval Memorial to the Somme Missing near Albert in northern France. The memorial is inscribed with the names of 73,350 Allied soldiers who died during the battle, in July 1916, but whose bodies were either never identified, or never recovered.

US Navy Patrol Bombing Squadron VPB-119; crews 01 & 17 - both lost in Chinese waters during 1945 . Still listed as Missing in Action.
