A quaint, picturesque old town nestled in a winter wonderland. The cobblestone streets, wind through the heart of the town. Historic half-timbered houses, their roofs blanketed in snow, line the narrow lanes. Twinkling fairy lights adorn the charming storefronts, inviting you to explore the local shops and boutiques.
I can honestly say that I love where we live now. Maryland is wonderful... but.... I do miss the blue skies of New Mexico. We had a sunny blue sky almost every day of the year.
Ah well... I definitely enjoyed it to the max for 6 years!
I'm cleaning out my memory card, found pictures I had taken while still living in New Mexico and fell in love with this shot. Had to upload and share it. =)

The Smoky Mountain's Foothills Parkway was first approved by Congress in 1944. Construction started in 1960. This week-end 1.6 miles of this road finally opened to the public. It has been known as "The Missing Link" because of environmental difficulties requiring bridges and the efforts/requirements to protect wildlife. While the Autumn colors are past peak the views were still stunning this morning.

My goal with this series is to explore every day scenes under the cover of darkness. A street corner, a lamp post, a doorway. Big city, small town, urban, rural. The model whale (full size) is missing from his usual place in the Plaza at Lawrence Hall of Science. I was very unhappy about this until I read that he has just gone for a cleaning and refurbishment before being re-installed! :-)
