What:

Part 3 of the Peggy's Cove tour, Finally!!

When:

Just as the sun was setting last Sunday evening. About 5 minutes before the last shot I posted.

Where:

Peggy's Cove

Nova Scotia, Canada

About:

So, continuing from part 2... this was taken from exactly the same spot on the dock in PC but I turned about 45 degrees to right. So if I can manage to stitch these three shots together I shot be able to get over 180 degree view of the cove. I don't really have any shots looking behind where I am here but it certainly isn't as picturesque as these three views. To get another angle or perspective of where I am here, check out this photo from last week where I put a note right on this dock. It was shot from the road down at the end of the cove. You can see the little dory there if you look really close.

Processing:

This was shot with the normal 3 frames bracketed (0,-2,+2ev) and I manually blended the exposures in photoshop so I could get the proper sky combined with the proper foreground exposures. I did a layer of curves and a little tweak of the shadows/highlights. After resizing and posting I can see it's over saturated but what the hell, it's meant to look like a postcard! :-)

Please, no invites or crazy glittery graphics. Just a comment is nice. Thank You

Part of the Mount Isa Rodeo since inception and a charter member of Mount Isa South Rotary Club in 1967, Ray Donaldson's passion and selfless service saw him serve as Rodeo Chairman from 1977 until his death in 1984. His stewardship of the Isa Rodeo resulted in major upgrades to facilities at Kalkadoon Park and Carrandotta and he personally sought new sponsors and greatly nurtured existing relationships in order to constantly grow the event. Heavily supported by wife Elaine, Ray's massive commitment meant the Donaldson children thought it perfectly normal to spend every weekend either at Carrandotta Station or playing at Kalkadoon Park where their parents became 'worker bees'. Ray's most lasting legacy was in establishing Bell & Moir Toyota's relationship with the iconic event. More than 50 years later, Ray's company remains a major supporter of the Isa Rodeo and Bell & Moir Toyota's donation of vehicles for the annual art union has raised millions for the local community. Ray's service saw him named a Paul Harris Fellow as was Bell & Moir Toyota, several times over.

This is part 2 of my Kaneohe Bay series. We all know about the Hanalei Pier in Kauai but Oahu has a similar knocked-off fishing pier that is somewhat hidden in Kaneohe Bay. Been waiting for a low tide, no wind condition to get a shot like this. I will be uploading part 3 soon.

So I head off down to pick Davina up and take her to the hotel. Nice little journey that saved her a walk from the station to her digs. On the way back I realised I had left my cardi and sun glasses at my parents. Never a good move when your mother is like a magpie with stuff she likes. After dropping Davina off it was back to my parents again.

Miami skyline as seen from Watson Island.

Made the 4 1/2 drive to South Florida this weekend to help my brother move into a new apartment. Afterwards, we drove to downtown Miami for dinner and I had wanted to get some shots while I was down there. Honestly, I would have liked to go to see some of the Art Deco stuff and get some shots there, but my brother thought it would be neat to get a shot of the skyline. This is one of several shots I got. Apparently this seems to be a popular location as there were about a half dozen people (at least) that wanted to get shots at sunset, including some people doing a photo shoot of a lambourghini. There were also a bunch of people fishing from the dock.

Adjusted the levels a bit and removed some dirt marks. I've got to get my sensor cleaned soon! Cropped a bit and straightened.

Vivienne and Mirelle Part 2: The Message

Discovered three days after Mirelle disappeared. Not by accident. Not in haste. Left where only someone like Vivienne would find it—and only if she was looking.

Song: That's On Me

It was a quiet evening. No appointments. No meetings. The Ravenwood’s operations ran smoothly below. But Vivienne wasn’t there.

She was upstairs—in her private residence atop the hotel, lights dimmed, gloves off, combing out her hair like she hadn’t since that night.

The hidden panel in the armrest clicked open beneath her fingers—automatic, familiar. She wasn’t reaching for anything.

And yet there it was.

A piece of silk, small and torn, tucked neatly inside. Pale cream. Familiar. Not perfumed. Not folded like a lover’s keepsake—folded like intel.

Vivienne stared at it for a moment, not touching. As if picking it up would confirm what she already knew.

It was from Mirelle.

There was a stitch along the hem. Barely visible—unless the light hit just right. A pattern Vivienne recognized. Threaded in tight: a cipher.

No encryption. No deception. Just a message.

Hand-stitched. Intimate. Final.

You never asked me to stay

I stayed anyway.

That’s on me.

I learned more than I should have.

That’s on you.

—M.

No name. No return path. No signal trace.

Just the signature—a single letter. Deliberate. Knowing. Irrevocable.

Vivienne sat back. She didn’t speak. She didn’t call Omalley. She didn’t pour a drink.

She just held the silk in one hand—light as a promise, sharp as memory—and breathed.

Then, slowly, she folded it. Once. Twice. Again.

Slid it into the same hidden compartment. Closed it.

And walked to the console.

That night, the Ravenwood played no broadcasts. No vinyl.

Just analog static—quiet, constant.

And she did leave the lights on when she went to bed.

Addendum to Part 2:

A professional assessment. A personal breach.

Hours later, Vivienne sat at her desk with the silk unfolded on the surface.

She wasn’t reading the message again—she was analyzing the stitch.

She ran it through three filters. Checked the thread’s weave density. Logged the cipher angle. All habitual. All precise.

And then she stopped.

Not because she was done.

Because she realized she was trying to turn grief into intel.

And there was no dossier in Sky Port Bury that would ever explain why she let Mirelle in.

She closed the file without saving. Walked away.

Some knowledge didn’t belong in archives.

Short nature video I made using my new Sigma lens. I had to upload it in 2 parts, because Flickr only allows a maximum of 3mins to be uploaded at once and the video is over 4mins long.

Sit back, relax and enjoy the show. :)
