I found this seagull perched on a post leading out to the rougher waters of the area surrounding Venice. There were boats by each home or building there because after all it is only one of two ways to navigate Venice. The other is by walking.

A lone Timber Wolf at the Calgary Zoo. It was a cool day and the snow was lightly falling too.

So much fun to photograph along the St. Joseph River in South Bend at night with all the colorful lights!

HaPPy (Black) Friday ..actually let it be yellow green or white...HaPPy Friday ....)
Another beautiful morning at Many Glacier with the day's first light caressing The Garden Wall, Grinnell Point and Mt. Wilbur.
The winds were whistling this fine morning. Not often does one gets water droplets on their lens from a lake....but I did this dawn.
A few other sunrise shots from this favorite place in comments.
Enjoy a wonderful Wednesday!
A stormy monotone depiction of the highest mountains on the North American continent. Mt. Hunter on the left, King Denali on the right. As a peak freak viewing Denali was a priority and highlight of last summer's trip to Alaska. True nuff, all the other peaks bow to it's glory.
This was a rare view between the thick forests along the Petersville road. A tighter color version in comments.

A long exposure, landscape image of the Wheel of Fire at Finch Hatten Gorge in Queensland, Australia.
Taken at Portage lake last night. The temperatures were around -8F degrees. I came across this section of the lake where the ice had fractured and piled up on the beach. I highlighted the foreground by using my LED Coleman latern on low setting to paint the ice and the sharp angles of the snow. Unfortunately I just missed the huge explosion of the northern lights in the background. There were oranges, pinks, and greens.

The California Nebula is an emission nebula located in the constellation Perseus. It is so named because it appears to resemble the outline of the US State of California on long exposure photographs

"Dreaming in Mother Nature’s arms about the world we share
And how much we care
Free to be, in peace and harmony, what every nation wants
What we all can dream
Green dream for our planet and all of us who love it..."

"As we sat, a tiny flash of blue-gray and white sped away. A moment later, the bird returned, and went back to foraging up and down the outer branches of the vines in search of food.
The bird was white underneath and almost exclusively blue-gray up top. The wings looked a bit darker, as if some black or brown ink had been splashed in. A white eye-ring stood out against a backdrop of gray head and a slender, jet black bill.
The most remarkable thing, though, was the bird's diminutive size. Wings spread wide were just a bit more than 4 inches. My field guide says that I would need to hold five of them in my hands just to get one ounce."
