Astronomers may have discovered a new kind of survival story: a star that had a brush with a giant black hole and lived to tell the tale through exclamations of X-rays.
Data from NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory and ESA’s XMM-Newton uncovered the account that began with a red giant star wandering too close to a supermassive black hole in a galaxy about 250 million light years from Earth. The black hole, located in a galaxy called GSN 069, has a mass about 400,000 times that of the Sun, putting it on the small end of the scale for supermassive black holes.
Once the red giant was captured by the black hole’s gravity, the outer layers of the star containing hydrogen were stripped off and careened toward the black hole, leaving the core of the star – known as a white dwarf – behind.

Miore Bodyskin has Updated with New Skintones!!
As some of you may already know, with the recent release of the new skins for K9, we also introduced the new “F”antasy skintones.
Compared to our previous tones, these have significantly reduced saturation and focus on very bright and very deep tones,
which we believe many skin enthusiasts will really appreciate.
At the same time, since there are still many people who love the original Ultimated Body Skin, as mentioned a few days ago, the Ultimated Body skintones have now been updated for the Miore body shades. Along with this update, several new skintones have been added, and we plan to gradually retexture our existing skins to match them.
We will probably share another update during the K9 Weekend Sale to keep everyone informed. 😊
The workload has definitely increased, but we truly hope this results in greater satisfaction for many of you.
The Ultimated Bodyskin fatpack has also been placed in the main store. However, please note that it uses the older body shade version, so it may not be fully compatible with the currently updated mesh bodies. Be sure to try the demo first before purchasing.

As I said yesterday morning, perhaps the temperature at the "swamp" would be warm enough so that any remaining dragons and damsels would put in a last appearance. Well, it turned out that the damsels were out in numbers and, as you can see from this photo, still mating and still laying eggs (four leaves to the east). There were so few dragons, four, that I could count them. See.
So, the season isn't quite over. These two Exclamation Damselflies attached as soon as they perched, and they remained for about 10 minutes at which time, she started depositing eggs. This is the last remaining hot spot and has produced innumerable water bugs on the not yet dying vegetation. But, as far as damsels are concerned, be it ever so humble, even a Motel Two will suit their needs. At least they don't have to worry about bed bugs.
Interestingly, one of the pond plants just bloomed, the Pond Lily. It's a beautiful wild flower, but hasn't much chance of standing up to battling Canada Geese, Mallards, and pond turtles, the latter feeding on them as soon as they bloom. (More about introduced pond turtles later this week.)
So, I took over 200 shots, but "only" 50 of damselflies. The rest are of an American Coot feeding, a female Pied-billed Grebe protecting her sleeping juvenile offspring against what she perceived as a threat, and a Funereal Dusky Skipper butterfly that ALMOST landed on a pond lily.
and so we did.
