Having checked the tide times, weather and sunrise trajectory, I had a specific shot in mind when I arrived at St Ives early in the morning.

But... as my Instagram story followers will know, I left a small but crucial bit of kit at home... my tripod connector plate! This meant that a slow shutter image of the waves swooshing around the old pier stumps was out!

As the sun rose, the horizon lit up in a warm glow. Instead of packing up and going home - I decided to embrace the blur with some ICM (Intentional Camera Movement) photography.

With a slow shutter speed of just under a second, I moved the camera during the exposure for this "arty" look. I made several attempts - selecting this one to process first as I liked how some of the buildings (possibly engine houses?) are just about visible on the horizon.
