The waves

On our last day in Praha, we were walking to Petrin Tower when we began to see crowds of people line up along the sides of Národní, the road we were on. We found out there was going to be a parade of old streetcars, so we decided to stop and watch. The streetcars were very cool, but what I actually loved about this parade was something else entirely. Some people on the streetcars were dressed in period costumes and uniforms and others just wore modern street clothes, but each car was full of people waving to the spectators, and we were all waving back. It was so pure and simple and sweet to witness in a time when people don't always treat each other as kindly as I imagine they did in the bygone eras when these streetcars ran.
