The Best Defense 3349

A snowy owl's eyes widen and he takes on a defensive posture as a peregrine falcon, seen in the foreground, rapidly approaches. Had this peregrine taken a dive, the owl would have raised its wings in a defensive maneuver. Peregrine falcons and snowy owls inhabit similar ecological niches, putting them in direct competition. Though I have seen peregrine falcons attach snowy owls on several occasion, I have never seen a snowy owl take the offensive. Despite harassment, I have never seen direct contact between the two. Though peregrines are fast, snowy owls would be formidable opponents. It's life in the fast lane! #ILoveNature #ILoveWildlife #WildlifePhotography in #NewJersey #Nature in #America #USA #SnowyOwl #Canon #DrDADBooks #Bringit #Photography #Wildlife #Picoftheday #Photooftheday
