Crossing Over to the Creek
A Conrail unit coal train crosses over from #3 to #1 main in order to access the Pope's Creek Secondary here at Bowie. The train will enter the "Creek" via the north leg of the wye adn then continue south to either Morgantown (likely) or Chalk Point, MD where coal fired electric generating plants await more fuel. Meanwhile, a vintage fire truck crosses the Amtrak main up on the Chestnut St overpass heading north. The overpass was built when the PRR electrified the mainline through Bowie.
