The original Bijenkorf opened on the corner of Coolsingel and Schiedamse Singel in 1930 but was destroyed during the bombing of Rotterdam. In 1957 the new Bijenkorf, designed by Marcel Breuer, opened on Coolsingel. The Bijenkorf in Rotterdam is one of the largest and most popular department stores in the Netherlands. It offers a wide variety of products, including clothing, cosmetics and home furnishings.
