The Inntel Hotel in Zaandam/Netherlands is definitely the main attraction of the city but also of the whole country.
The twelve-storey-high hotel tower with 160 rooms is a stacking and interpretation of various green-painted house types typical of the Zaan region, ranging from a stately notary’s dwelling to worker’s cottages. ‘The Blue House’ has been inspired by the work Claude Monet painted at Zaandam in 1871.
Construction finished in 2010, design by WAM architecten.

Successful mix of old and new in industrial style.
Don't think of it as a converted prison. I suspect this used to be more of a market hall with hotel rooms recently built into one side.

Museum for Architectural Drawing
"The coloured concrete and glass façades of the building are rich in contrast and layers. The sculptural design of the concrete, its structural qualities and the method of construction give the building its unique appearance. Its closed surface is detailed with reliefs of magnified fragments of architectonic sketches which suggest the aims and uses of the exhibition spaces and archive within. In the interior of the museum, design motifs from the façade reappear and manifest themselves in the building’s design code, right down to the original door handles."
A skylight/staircase exit and a chimney standing side-by-side on the stepped roof of La Pedrera, called "the garden of warriors" by the poet Pere Gimferrer because the chimneys appear to be protecting the skylights - who knows? Maybe against the needle-form tower of the classic design building in the background.
Casa Milà, popularly known as La Pedrera ("the stone quarry") in reference to its unconventional rough-hewn appearance, is a Modernista building in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. It was the last private residence designed by architect Antoni Gaudí and was built between 1906 and 1912.

Glory bush, Lasiandra or princess flower (Tibouchina urvilleana), a native of Brazil, grown widely as a garden plant.
The flower has 10 stamens. Five stamens are longer than the others. The pollen is released from a pore at the tip of the anthers which are the clawlike ends of the stamens. The anthers also act as a landing pad for bees which in the wild pollinate the flowers by buzz pollination which involves the bee grabbing onto the flower and moving their flight muscles rapidly, causing the flower and anthers to vibrate, dislodging pollen.
The style and stigma extend beyond the anthers.

North façade of the Stanford Memorial Church from the Main Quad Stanford Memorial Church (also referred to informally as MemChu)[1] is located on the Main Quad at the center of the Stanford University campus in Stanford, California, United States. It was built during the American Renaissance[2] by Jane Stanford as a memorial to her husband Leland. Designed by architect Charles A. Coolidge, a student of Henry Hobson Richardson, the church has been called "the University's architectural crown jewel".[3]
Note: On the way down to Monterey Bay Aquarium, we visited here as that's where my good friend's niece got married. As a student of such, you're able to get married at this church, but, it has to be before your graduation.
