Doorway "Lanterne des Morts" (Sarlat-la-Canéda/FR)

Doorway "Lanterne des Morts". Through the opening of the ancient "Lanterne des Morts" (Lantern of the Dead) a 12th century tower constructed by the Knights Templars, a view at the Chevet of St. Sacerdos Cathedral. Its hard to see time here, it could be any year in history.

Sarlat-la-Canéda

A very popular town in the Périgord Noir. Because modern history has largely passed it by, Sarlat has remained preserved and one of the towns most representative of 14th century France. The centre of the old town consists of impeccably restored stone buildings, with 77 protected monuments it's on the list of France's Tentative List for future nomination as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Largely car-free with lots of narrow ancient streets and small stores, an absolute pleasure to walk through and to discover.
