Hellevoetsluis - Hr.Ms. Buffel - weapons

Ramtorenschip De Buffel (Est. 1896) - in service until 1973 as "Hr.Ms. Buffel" or "HNLMS Buffel" (NATO number A 884). The first ship of the Royal Dutch Navy without sails, an ironclad ram ship using a steam engine and two propellers. Equiped with an armament of a ram on her bow, several guns, serviced by a crew of 150 men. Her main task was to play a role in the Dutch coastal defense, later in use as an accommodation ship. It's now moored as a museum in the Maritiem Kwartier in Hellevoetsluis, in history an important Dutch naval base.
