Mist boven het Haringvliet bij Hellevoetsluis, de winter zon was net sterk genoeg om voor een uurtje de mist te laten verdwijnen.
Groet!
Fog patches over Haringvliet at Hellevoetsluis, the winter sun was just powerful enough to clear the sky for an hour.
Cheers!

Taking a walk along the fortress of Hellevoetsluis. This city once was an important naval base and home port of the Dutch naval fleet in the 17th Century. The city's name literally means the Lock at the Foot of Hell, although it is probably not really the etymological origin.

t is not to be missed from the water, the Hellevoetse lighthouse. The lighthouse was built in 1822 and is one of the older, still functioning lighthouses in the Netherlands. The tower was built to a design by naval architect J. Valk. In 1933 the tower got electric light, before that it had gas incandescent light. After many renovations and slight changes, the tower will be reopened in 2005 after a thorough restoration. The tower has a fixed optic, the height is 18 meters, the diameter is 3.30 meters and the light height is 17 meters. When the Lighthouse is open for viewing, you have a magnificent view over the Haringvliet and the harbor of Hellevoetsluis.

Samen met Rob Schop naar Hellevoetsluis geweest voor een Blue Hour opname. Lastig omstandigheden met alle drukte daar op vrijdagavond, toch nog deze foto kunnen maken.

The stunning location of the vast Haringvliet inlet has played an important role in the course of the history of Hellevoetsluis; earning it the name of a ‘Fortification town on the Haringvliet'. The Vesting fortress with its harbours and fortifications is steeped in history.
17th century: The origin of the Vesting
Water and Hellevoetsluis have been connected for centuries. Thanks to its favourable and strategic location on the Haringvliet inlet, at the beginning of the 17th century Hellevoetsluis became a home port for the Dutch war fleet; a port that was later continually fortified, resulting in a unique combination of a fortification town and a war port. The port has been the home port to renowned admirals such as de Ruyter, Tromp and Piet Hein.

Last Friday I visited the beautiful lighthouse of Hellevoetsluis, with Wim Boon. It was a bit busy, but we did had a lot of fun:) I also tested out my new magnetic filter system of Kase, and I think it is working great. So also some long exposures are coming!
Thanks for having a look! All faves and comments are highly appreciated!
