Serving the arts community in Washington Heights and Inwood

 

The Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance (NoMAA) is a non-profit arts service organization launched in 2007 with the support of the Hispanic Federation and the Upper Manhattan Empowerment Zone. NoMAA’s mission is to cultivate, support and promote the works of artists and arts organizations in Northern Manhattan.

 

NoMAA advocates for support to artists and art groups who live and work in northern Manhattan and contribute to the vitality and progress of the whole community.

Since its inception, NoMAA has implemented programs designed to strengthen the professional capacity of individual artists and community arts organizations in Washington Heights and Inwood. Among NoMAA programs and services are the NoMAA Creative and Capacity Building Grant Program, the Technical Assistance Program, the Uptown Arts Stroll, the NoMAA Gallery and the Artists Salon.

 

NoMAA has successfully partnered with local businesses and institutions to promote collaboration with artists and arts organizations in an effort to revitalize the cultural life and effect change in our communities uptown.

Uptown Arts Stroll 2015 kicks off Friday 29 May

Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance (NoMAA) is pleased to announce the 2015 Uptown Arts Stroll Kick-Off, honoring Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ty Jones, Andrea Arroyo and Eduardo Gómez.

 

Date: Friday 29 May 2015

Time: 6:30–8:30 p.m.

 

Place: Broadway Housing’s Sugar Hill Development, 898 St. Nicholas Avenue, between West 154th and 155th streets

 

Honorees:

•Lin-Manuel Miranda, Tony Award winner and the star of Hamilton, which hits the Broadway stage in July

•Ty Jones, Broadway actor and Producing Artistic Director of the Classical Theatre of Harlem

•Andrea Arroyo, Global Citizen Award Artist with artwork in permanent collections at the Smithsonian Institute and Library of Congress

•Eduardo Gómez, Website Specialist at UN Women and founder of the ground-breaking Washington Heights & Inwood (WaHI) Online community website

The 12th annual Uptown Arts Stroll is a month-long festival, celebrating arts and culture in Washington Heights, Inwood and West Harlem.

The kick-off is hosted by Broadway Housing Communities and its soon-to-open Sugar Hill Children’s Museum, and the Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance
