"Just Kiddushing!"

 

While searching for a subject this evening, I asked my wife if I ever shot our kiddush cup before. When she said that I had not, the wheels started turning......very slowly. I thought it might be cool to backlight the cup, revealing just the shape of the vessel, and nothing more. In the end, I did just stick with the strip light behind and above our subject. However, while adjusting the placement of the goblet, I immediately noticed how freakish my arm appeared in the reflection. My simple, elegant image was immediately transformed into something completely different. Not only did my arm appear ghoulish, but the amazing laws of reflection provided an additional effect when my reflection met the tiny reflection at the neck of the cup. Bonus features!! So, the one overhead light was positioned so it would create the lovely rim light, but it did double duty in lighting my arm as well. Thansk, science!! And thank you for stopping in!
